It runs hot and I mean really hot, I plan to mount it on the wall of my cabinet where all my network stuff is located and that is cooled by a 120mm fan. The need for good ventilation is a must in my opinion.

Congrats on receiving the ER! I too have it in my system now connected like pictured in the diagram I posted earlier so fiber to the ER and copper to my music server. Both on the A side and then the NUC endpoint connected to the B side. I power it @9V from the Hynes SR4. It does indeed become quite warm but here I wouldn’t call it hot but it’s on a bottom shelf and well ventilated. I’ll let it sit active for a while before doing some real listening, maybe this weekend.

Enjoy!  Smile

I believe Devialet has introduced a reclocker on the CI. The AES/EBU (and SPDIF) input is also routed through the reclocker. That is one of the reasons amps with CI sounds better. Good luck with ER testing!

Thanks!
There’s new asynchronous sample rate converters (ASRC) on the CI board which I guess you could reclocking. Devialet has never really shared with us (not in detail or writing that is) the steps an incoming signal goes through but we do know all signals are upsampled. I do remember Devialet has mentioned on one of the visits to a UK dealer that there’s improved clocks on the CI module as well. This all, probably with an improved design of the board, indeed probably accounts for the better SQ which I also noticed when I got my D back with the CI board.

Looks like you’re ‘in luck’ with Confused and David A having bought an ER as well and them using or testing it with AIR/Roon AIR RAAT.  Smile

Thanks! I always take a bit of time but will share my (of course subjective and system dependant) findings.

Congrats on ordering the ER, it’ll be December in no time, hope you receive it before Christmas! Smile
@ogs @David A - Yes, I certainly plan to try RAAT via the CI board, including 24/192 files and upsampling etc.  In fact, I'll pretty much try anything!  I am also mindful of @Vivialet 's posts re the good results he was getting using Audirvana UPnP / DLNA, this is something else I would like to try.  Although I think Vivialet's best results were via direct Ethernet connection, so using the EtherRegen would be something a little different, plus I believe UPnP / DLNA buffers tracks, so I am not quite sure how this fits with the theories behind the EtherRegen.  No harm in trying it though.

@Antoine - Your comment about getting it before Christmas made me chuckle.  Yes, I would very much like to get it before Christmas, simply because I will have more time at home for listening over the holiday period.  The thing is though, this time last year I was very much looking forward to trying my "end of November" batch Paul Hynes SR4's over the Christmas holidays.  They arrived in late March!  That said, I am optimistic that the Uptone promised delivery dates might prove to be a little nearer to the mark than those from Paul Hynes. @Antoine are you "Dutch" on Audiophile Style forum? I assume that or there are someone else with exactly the same system Smile

I really feel that the eR have changed my system to the better your description on A/S forum is relly good.
@octaviars Oh no, I have a copycat!

Haha just joking of course; yes, I am ‘Dutch’ on AS. Big Grin

My first impressions are linked to below for anyone interested. I’m very happy with the ER, the differences (all improvements thus far) in my system are clear as a bell and very worthwhile! Smile

Great that you like the ER too in your very streamlined system, dCS might be worried or at least very interested in the inner workings of the ER! Smile

Me being lazy, sorry, why don’t I just copy paste the short bit of text I posted to AS here! Smile

My first impressions/listening notes after my first listen (I’m not counting the 15 minutes or so I listened when I hooked it up) and around 140 house of continuous operation of the ER.

In short: WOW!

Stronger foundation, more punch and the (upper) bass/lower midrange octaves seem to have filled up a bit in my system
Microdetail in spades without distracting or anything specific drawing my attention
More ambiance or reverb is heard, better soundstaging in all three dimensions
Incredible separation, delineation and natural portrayal of voices and instruments (harmonies OMG)
Emotion is really oozing from recordings
Less digititis (again?!), no sharpness, peaky or intermingled/smeared highs, just well balanced not dark or filtered in any way. Lively recordings still sound lively.

One very weird ‘effect’; music seems to play a bit slower, of course it doesn’t (or so I hope) but I think this is because it sounds more right and relaxed (good thing!) It must be my brain adjusting to something no longer there or the opposite: missing before.

Very happy so far!!! Thank you Alex and John!

My system topology in attached picture (clickable for larger version). The ER is a drop in replacement for a TP Link MC220L fiber ethernet converter plus EMO Systems EN-HD70 LAN isolator. I’ll update my system details in my profile next.

It's good to see a review from a Devialet user and even better that it's positive. It looks like I might have a good time in January when I get mine from the 3rd production run.
@David A I think so too! Smile Feedback is almost unanimously positive.

I realize I was talking mostly about qualitative changes and used some superlatives. While they’re for me very valuable improvements some people might think it’s like new speakers which of course is not the case. Just saying, to not set expectations too high. Smile
If the ER does the same in front of the Expert ethernet port it's a winner! Guess we'll have to wait for @Confused . He is supposed to be "in" the 2nd production run...

Don't set my expectations too high!   Huh  I've got no idea what my expectations are. Smile

There are a couple of things I've learnt over the years:

- even if you get what you expect, say an increase in bass or a drop in the noise floor, the actual result always manages to sound different to what you expect it to sound like because that change always has an effect on how you hear other aspects of the sound; and

- changes always are more noticeable when you first hear them so the magnitude of the change seems larger. Over the course of a week or two as you become accustomed to the change you notice it less and if you try swapping back to the previous setup then the change back always sounds less dramatic than your impression of the original change.

I hope to hear a difference and I hope to like that difference but as to just what that difference is going to do to the sound overall and how I feel about the change as a whole isn't something I have any expectations about. Changes never seem to come without some level of surprise in my experience, they're never just what i've anticipated when I have had expectations.
