[attachment=223][attachment=224][attachment=225]Hi All,

Here's a few pics of my system which comprises the following:

Devialet 400 amplifiers, with Apple Mac Book Air and Esoteric K-01x sources feeding Martin Logan Montis speakers.

Mains and speaker cables are from Viard Audio (HD20) with signal cables from Artisan Silver Cables ultmate silver dream.

Accessories include Stax SR009 and 007t Kimik amplifier. Amplifiers and sources sit on an Audiophile base platform with cera bases under the amps and headphone amp.

All this system is brand new, purchased within the last 10 months following my move to work in Qatar in 2010.

Very nice. I'd be interested in your thoughts regarding the Macbook v Esoteric from a SQ point of view.

Cheers

Excellent. I think that makes three Montis owners on the forum now.
Great to see the D400 + Montis Combo Smile

my D200 will be D400 next week and my ML ESL will be upgraded most probably to ML Montis soon.

so that would make four of us, i guess

but i am keen to know your opinion on how easy/difficult it is for Devialet to drive the Montis especially with high frequencies when impedance tends to drop to very low levels.

thanks

Oh and i see you are stacking the master and companion on top of each other, so no overheating issues?
Hi Amabrok,

The Montis sound fine driven by the 400's, and I can hear the improvement in detail and imaging, stage depth and dynamics each and every time I turn it on, bearing in mind the CD player has been used for about 25 hours, the rest of the system a little longer.

I had CLS's for over 10 years and used a 60 watt audio research classic 60 which was a superb combination, and they didn't have a 200 watt powered sub in each one!

The mid and high frequencies are generally what attract us to els's in the first place, and I've noticed no issues whatsoever.

I was more cautious moving from valve amps than concerning myself with the impedence curve of the speakers.

Here's a couple of pics with my new Sasha 2 speakers which arrived last week. An immediate improvement over the ML Montis.

Next upgrade is the GU-01 clock for my CD player then a turntable. It was going to be the Devialet 400's next but am really pleased with their sound through the Wilsons even if SAM is not workng on both channels yet!

Nice! With the Sashas I really recommend removing the grilles when listening, makes a huge difference.

Not too sure what the issue is re SAM. The reason I asked about the firmware version is that in an earlier release there was a display bug resulting in the SAM logo not showing on the Companion's display. There was also an issue with SAM not working at all when the "share sources from companion" was deselected in the Configurator.

Do you have two separate SD cards, with one in each unit?

Guillaume
Hi Guilaume,

The companion card I have never changed, just the master SD card which I thought controlled both of them

It's actually the companion (right) channel that's working, not the master (left)

Hi Neil, can you create a new config for BOTH Master and Companion. If you've already saved your last config just go into it and check the details of the Companion and download the config for the Companion.  Insert card into the Companion and power on and off both units (using button at front).

This should work now.

Guillaume
Thanks Guilaume, I'll give this a try.
Much quicker way to get a response than asking Devialet!!
