Friend is planning to bring over a poweramp with balanced XLR inputs only to try out with my D440.
I tried configuring the 2 AES outputs as Preout, but it seems it can only be activated if I also configure 2 RCA outputs as preout.
Since I have not tested it I am not sure if it will work.
Can anyone confirm if the 2 AES outputs works as preout
I think the AES are only inputs for digital. Analog outputs only RCA

But it seems there is an option to enable preout?
The "Sub/Preout enabled" option defines whether the sub/pre output is turned on when the amp is playing input from the source you're currently configuring.

Thanks, so i guess the XLR can only be used for digital input.

Only our spdif can be configured for some in pre out.
This is today the only way to connect a headphone to our amplifier.
The AES only receives signal via IN.
