For headphone use i plug my headphone DAC/AMP into the DDC.
My DDC has an Optical and Coax out, use the Optical SPDIF to drive the Dialog and the COAX output as input to my DAC/Amp/headphone rig.
Obviously that is not using the Phantom DAC to drive the headphones.
so, No, don't see how that could work, since there is no "external" output connection from the Phantom DAC.

Yeah guess that makes sense it would need an output socket from the Phantoms!

In addition, there is not one DAC in a phantom, but 4 DACs, one per transducer.
The filtering is done in the digital domain, therefore none of these 4 DACs is seeing the full signal.
