Does anyone know if these introduce lag yet? It's particularly interesting that they support analog input.

This should mean they would work for a basic turntable/DJ/Home cinema setup, right? It doesn't matter that they don't sync if you are feeding independent left and right signals.

I'm thinking I could grab a pair to get a decent output of my TV, and buy a set of golds when they support something better. If Spark is getting fixed at the end of 2019, I don't want to buy now and wait for that. New Phantoms might even come out in the meantime. But long term, Phantom Reactors might work great for surround speakers…?

Or I could just forget it all and get a little Dolby Atmos setup for now. Maybe a set of the teeny Focals, just so I have something. https://www.focal.com/uk/home-theater/si...-atmos-512

Thoughts?
I believe the latency on the Reactors is lower, although there is still some because the analogue signal is not directly fed to the analogue portion of the amplification unit. They're still processing it and running it past the SAM module in order to prevent overload of the hardware; but you can put the White, Silver, and Gold's into a latency free mode already.
Latency free or lower latency? Direct optical mode still takes a pile of workarounds to make it work properly with a stereo source. If I’m spending that much money, I don’t want to use unsupported hacks to achieve my goal.
Well. Direct Optical Mode is essentially latency free. It’s been used as live monitors, and for live playback/performances at various clubs and venues. It’s low enough to be used with a live microphone.

But yes, to get them in stereo or surround you’ll need a way to split to optical signal which is a hassle.

Reactor still has latency and it is not near as close to the Direct Optical Mode. It’s bearable. You could watch TV or movies and not perceive it unless you really tired. But as a live monitor of some sort it would be bad.

If you use two Reactors in stereo I believe the latency will increase. As it does with two standard Phantom, although mostly when using Dialogue as it does initial processing before sending the signal to each Phantom to then have a final process through the SAM module.
Though if you are splitting the stereo yourself (like feeding two optical feeds) it should be negligible? If not I don’t understand. I feel like Devialet need to make this more explicitly clear.

The expert range also uses SAM and A/D conversion but doesn't have a lag so there's no technical reason for an analog signal to produce lag. I'm more inclined to think the lag is there due to a buffer for streaming. That shouldn't have any affect on the analog input.

I would still want to hear them work at a dealer before purchasing though. There are many alternatives. Kef has the new LSX now; Roon ready, no more cable in between speakers like with the LS50W and, wait for it, it comes in stereo!
The devialet app for the phantom reactor has a low latency option for the aux input explained here:
