So.... I bought myself an early Christmas present
Tell about your phonostage
Well, I had the hiss issue with a low output mc cartridge as everyone does and even though it’s not audible during playback I figured it must affect the integrity of the sound, considered a SUT or a phono stage, didn’t want to pay or compromise with a stage that did mm & mc, so this seemed perfect, a Rega IOS reference mc phonostage, arrived today and planning to get it up and running on Sunday & Monday, will report back
Good look forward too What you hear , and tell .

First he needs to open that box!

I agree though, that is one substantial looking phono stage.  I will certainly be interested to hear how it compares to Devialet's offering.

Hey Finn, I installed the phonostage on Monday, my system is in a temporary location for now whilst I await building works to commence and finish next year. Firstly, I detected a low level hum at -5db with my ear to the speaker but the stage is right next to the arm so not ideal, I cued my first record, Aerial by Kate Bush the remastered latest edition and spent some time listening at sensible levels, the sound was excellent with a great soundstage and tight bass and great treble, however as the evening proceeded sound levels went up and eventually the two lower drivers of my Focals were dancing in and out frenetically as I’ve never seen before, so much so that the bass was causing my sons TV in the room above to vibrate and jump, not often that your kids tell you to turn the music down! The Hi-Fi room has a suspended wooden floor over a cellar so I’m guessing the cartridge was picking up bass from the speakers and amplifying it, the bass wasn’t overwhelming where I was listening from however.
In short my partner and I thought the reproduction of sound was fantastic but I’m concerned about damaging my speakers. This weekend I will reintroduce the Devialet phonostage and see if this situation recurs. My new room will have a solid floor so should negate this feedback issue.
Quick update, reduced bass to -5.0db and this has helped.

You can turn the sub sonic filter on to combat that. Bass adjustment works around the 200Hz region, the subsonic filter works around the frequencies that cause the rumble.
