Apart from a copper base and a bit more power, what does the 250 have over a 220 considering the price differential?
A much nicer-feeling remote control, for one.

I didn't realise they had different remotes.  How different?  Functionality the same I assume?

The ability - if you want it - to make a 1000.

The remotes are functionally the same but the 250 is bigger, heavier, smoother and the logo rotates!
Bottom photo is the 250/1000

Apart from the remote (price is also correspondingly different), sound quality is improved. Together with @NickB, I carried out a comparison between 160, 220, 250 and 1000, the last three all being Pro Core Infinity. Sound improved correspondingly with every model step up. The 250 is more revealing, more detailed, bigger sound stage and simply more enjoyable to listen to compared with the 220. We carried out the test twice. Once in a very large living room (converted Edwardian village school hall) and a 4m x 4m x 2.2m living room. The results were the same for both. Of course, the 1000 in the old school hall with a pair of Magico S5’s was simply stunning.

I have been told by Nick that a single 250 sounds better than a 440 as he has carried out this test. I trust his ears but, as I didn’t hear it for myself, I am just passing on hearsay.
