I am considering to replace my Oracle Delphi MK2 with a Dr. Feickert Woodpecker. Now, the Oracle is fitted with a 9" SME V arm (with Shelter 501 III Cartridge). I am considering to keep this arm and fit it on the Oracle. Is this a good move to do, or is it more interesting to move on to a newer 12" arm? Or even considering something completely else? Also keep in mind i have a (i think) good offer for exchanging the Oracle at two dealers.

Thanks in advance!
Bartype - I have the Oracle Delphi MK2 with the SME 9" 345 arm (Ortofon Cadenza Black Cart). I also have a VPI Aries Limited Edition with 3D 12" arm (Dynavector DRT XV 1S). The VPI Aries with the 12" arm is a dream machine, but your Oracle Delphi setup correctly is no slouch. I believe the Oracle can compete with some of the best if set up right. Can you share what kind of change your looking for? I am familiar with Shelter (albeit an older 901 many years ago). The Ortofon Cadenza Black is an excellent match for the SME arm.

If you have the opportunity to investigate 12" arms on a quality turntable, I don't think you'd be disappointed (with the right cartridge). I am certainly not, but I must admit most of my day to day vinyl playing is on the Oracle.

Thank you for the reply. The idea is going for a Woodpecker and maybe move the SME to the woodpecker, althoug this tabel is able to handle 12" arms well. The other option is to trade the Oracle with SME for a woodpecker with 12" (propably with a Melco) arm and keeping the cartride.
I have two dealers who would be willing to go this road.

This is despite i like the Oracle, but it's more work to let it run probably without speed issues which get less when it's running for half an hour or more. Now, when i decide to play a record i have noticed i am more of a press play and run type. So, that's one reason to consider a Woodpecker, which is a formidable player without an endless upgrade path...
