Thank you for your message and interest in Phantom.

Phantom can be integrated with a Devialet eco system, but you can't use it as a sub; You still need speakers with your Devialet, but with Phantom you will be able to pair any phantom device with any Devialet to share the same music;

That will be possible with Dialog only, and you will have access to the Spark application on the Devialet.
That is most interesting. Spark for the D-series without a Dialog box. I think I'll wait a bit to see if that's going to happen, before ordering a Dialog.

it is funny how we read it and saw it differently Eddye Smile i saw the line before that says "That will only be possible with Dialog" and so i understand that yes D series will get access to Spark but only via a Dialog (at least as of yet)

Not to mention a Frenchman wrote that in English... Who knows what they really mean to write.

I own a D400, say a couple PHANTOM will be better than my current D400 includes 18K$ speakers.
The upgrade to 400 I did two weeks ago ..
Do I threw my money?
Is Devialet continue to develop for the previous products?
What does it say about us as consumers ?

Anyway I vote Yes .. In case 2 PHANTOM units will preform better then my current setup I will sell my equipment .
But How will buy it ?

I think we should all reserve judgment on this until there have been some proper reviews on Phantom, or better still, an opportunity to actually audition in person. It is fun to speculate though. For what it’s worth, my view on your point above is that a D400, with $18K speakers, which have presumably been selected to suit your own subtle preferences, will be substantially better than two Phantoms. The flash reviews on the Phantom have been very positive so far, I am fairly sure the Phantom is excellent for what it is, but most of the comments are along the lines of “incredible bass for such a small device”, or similar. Time will tell, but I firmly believe that most of us will be hanging on to our existing kit, rather than selling out to buy phantoms. I guess it’s very easy to get caught up in all the recent Phantom hype and lose perspective a bit?

I totally agree. I would be absolutely amazed if a pair of phantoms could sound better than a well optimised D120/200/250/400/800 setup. The bass may be amazing for a speaker of that size but that doesn't mean that its tonal quality and texture will even come close to that of a decent pair of standmounts or floorstanders.

I'm sure it will sound very good though and I'm certainly looking forward to giving it a listen in due course. If it can get more people into Devialet ownership then that's surely a good thing since these people will then naturally aspire to own other models in the range. Not to mention all the positive externalities which were will all benefit from, principally better software and control points (UPnP etc).

Guillaume - you just said exactly what I wanted to, no doubt more concisely than I would have done!
I may buy 5 for home theatre and if they work well with CD and LP by some means, and sound good enough, they could replace my existing kit.
The biggest limitation will perhaps be sound level/dynamics. Even the 3000W one has a max output of 105dB at 1 meter.
I get 109dB at one meter from my horns with one watt. And I have got 800 Smile

I tend to agree that the bass may be impressive for the size, rather than in an absolute sense but if the main coax unit is top quality it should be better than any conventional units in a conventionally shaped enclosure. IMHO

I've posed this before, but no one seems to know.... What is this 3000w figure supposed to mean? I used to run a professional PA with multiple, large, fan cooled Peavey amps. This was not quite 3000w. It would appear to be a slightly bonkers figure to me. Maybe it relates to the side pumping piston devices, but I have no idea really.

Anyway, perhaps you should try your horns with 3000w Frank? Might be fun.

The power supplies in the 120 and 200 are rated at 3000W peak. Perhaps the 3000w peak for the Phantom isnt a coincidence?

I asked Devialet whether it will be possible to use SPARK directly with my 200 or whether it is necessary to use a DIALOG now or in the future. No response yet but I guess they're snowed under Smile
My enquiry about SPARK and Devialet:

Hi, will it be possible now or in the future to use the new SPARK app to control my Devialet 200 directly or will I have to use a DIALOG?

Their response is quite clear:

Dear Sir,

Regarding Spark for Devialet 200, you will indeed need a Dialog.
Do not hesitate to sign up on our website in order to receive new upcoming information.

Merry Christmas,
I'd be keen to listen to one, but as there's no way of plugging in my record player or TV, I can't see it being any sort of replacement for my 250.
