Haha, I got a few M5 and M6 from my work so I forgot which one I used :-)
How is your end result?

i need to modify the stands i got to accomodate the M6 width screw, as they only take an M5. lololol. will find my drill bits this week and make em work.

I am using M6 bolts to mount them on PA speaker stand.
