Can those of you who upgraded say a little about how happy you are 0-10 and explain a bit how it was before and what you like/don´t like now?

Thanks!

thanks, do you regret upgrading?
As everytime devialet is so bad with software... and to fix all the issues they will take 2 years ... to create more issues than before Smile
Only 1 person responded so far, I think a lot of people are waiting it out like us. :-)
I upgraded my pair of golds without any issues. I've unplugged my dialog and everything is working fine using an optical input into one of the phantoms at 192kHz (previously this was always a bit flakey and I had to use 96kHz). They sound good, no problems so far after lots of listening time.
I updated to DOS2 and overall I have had minimal problems to date. I have a pair of Phantom Classics with a dialog and now no longer need the Dialog. I did read the instructions pretty Carefully before starting the process and left the Dialog to the end......in fact I haven’t actually updated the Dialog as I wasn’t sure  whether I was supposed to do this after the Phantoms had been updated, but prior to installation, or to leave the Dialog until the Phantom update and installation process had been completed. As indicated, I left the Dialog alone completely and still haven’t updated it.......presumably I can use the optical and Ethernet sockets on the Phantoms if I need to use them.

After the upgrade I feel that the sound quality is much better. I pretty much exclusively use AirPlay and the crackle which I found really annoying on tracks with high frequency sounds Has gone and for me this is a real plus. I perceive the sound stage now as much bigger and overall the sound appears to be much more rounded and balanced. I have read on other posts that the upgrade included a new sound profile and certainly for my ears it does sound a lot better.

I use Apple Music and Amazon Music HD trial as sources via AirPlay and although I haven’t done any exhaustive testing, the new sound profile seems (to my 65 year old ears) to bring the quality of the two sources much closer together. I have a few weeks left of the Amazon HD trial but at the moment I may well drop it as it’s much harder, for me at least, to hear a difference between the Apple codec and Amazon 24bit 48khz tracks.

I did find the instructions fairly clear but as an english speaker I was surprised at some of the ambiguous grammar which meant there was a bit of finger crossing. For example in the upgrade decision tree there was at least one question with two clauses in it which required a yes/no answer so you didn’t know which clause you were saying yes or no to!

Overall, for me, the upgrade has gone ok and I am enjoying what I perceive as better sound quality. I have had one small issue since upgrading which I am hoping was just blip. When I Started listening today it was immediately apparent that the sound stage was skewed heavily  to the right speaker. I tried a reset of the iPad running the new App but no change. I wasn’t sure what the recommendations are now for DOS2 with regard to resets and button interventions (I have asked Devialet support but not heard back yet) so took a risk of unplugging one of the Phantoms and then plugging it back in. After a while both Phantoms made what I understand to be the rebooting sound. After a short while I played music through the system and everything was back to normal gain.....hopefully this was just a blip but I have reported to Dev Support in case it recurs.

That’s about it!
The best of all is there is no buzz anymore after the update. I had a buzzing noise with one Phantom since the very beginning, I sometimes woke up at night because of the noise, because we use the Gold Phantoms in our bedroom. Praise the Lord for helping with DOS 2!
I have 2 Golds and a Dialog. I upgraded to DOS2. I am very happy with the upgrade. I did have to restart all devices in order to re pair the a Devialet remote, however. Before this upgrade, the speakers would cut out after a few minutes. The system was virtually unusable. It sat pretty and unused for a year! Now, it is stable, the sound to me is better than before, and the iOS software is straightforward and useful. Spark was awful. I deleted it with glee. So, don’t be afraid. I had nothing to lose and am so far very happy and impressed with my newly discovered system. I hope that subsequent updates are as stable as this one. I prefer stability to additional features. Altogether, this update, for me, has been great. And I am thinking of adding more rooms in the future.

Also no complaints here. Two Golds no dialogue in an Roon->AirPlay household. Will switch everything back to RAAT if that ever becomes available on the Phantoms. Sound quality is definitely better using AirPlay with Roon compared to RAAT over a RPi HifiBerry Digi+ Pro (Direct / Low Latency) optical connection.
