Hi,

I have a setup with 2 generation II (bluetooth capable) Phantom Silver in PLC mode and a Dialog (not Airplay capable) that I address through a dedicated Apple AirPort Express. I'm streaming music either from Qobuz through Spark or directly via Spotify Connect.
From the DOS2 explanations on the Devialet webpage, I understand that Dialog and Spark will become obsolete and that Qobuz or Tidal will no longer be integrated in the system.
Since I'm not an expert with all this, I wonder if anyone could explain me my options to operate my system from my iPhone or Mac in the future? Is there any hardware or software I could buy to replace the Dialog and stream Qobuz (or something else) via Airplay? What would you recommend (other than dump my system)?

Many thanks for your input!

Olivier
You'll find that a lot of info in this thread

Or maybe this is the solution for you?

It sounds like you already have everything you need. DOS2 will remove the need for the Dialog, which I assume you are connecting your Airport Express to via 3.5 mm optical to toslink. Take the plug out of the dialog and plug it directly into the optical in on one of your phantom (hidden behind the power cord), and keep air playing to the express. Although the different services are no longer integrated into the app like they were in Spark, Airplay has always been an option from the tidal or Qubuz app, and Spotify Connect is integrated directly into the new DOS2 Devialet app.

For you, DOS2 represents a simplification of your rig: the phantom will play stereo without a Dialog, so it’s no longer a required component in your set up.

Many thanks ragwo, much appreciated!
I’m afraid your solutions are a bit too technical for a non expert like me. If nothing easier works I fear I would need to work into those more sophisticated solutions.
In a world in which everything technical gets more and more connected and userfriendly, Devialet goes a different path. Incredible at this price level!

Many thanks vaguedetails!

That’s exactly the kind of easy fix / explanation I was hoping for. I’ll definitely give that a try and keep you posted!

Whoa! there, hang on.

Although you have received excellent advice on how to access streaming services within DOS2, just what incentive is there, for you, to upgrade now? What wonderful new features are you hoping to benefit from?

In time, DOS2 and the Devialet app, may progress and provide newer features that are beneficial, but until then why ‘break’ a setup that currently works for you. Your system is not obsolete, nor is it likely to be for years.

Remember, this is a migration, there is no turning back to DOS1.
For me, as the owner of two Phantom Classic, the incentive was greater stability on the network, a significant increase in power from 1200 watts to 2000, and the often mentioned better SQ that DOS2 provides. That said, I use Roon primarily, so losing Spark wasn’t part of my decision process. I’m not trying to contradict @alandbush. If your current set up is working, there are enough users still experiencing Airplay quirks that you might want to hold off for a few more iterations of the new firmware.
@vaguedetails just curious—how are you using your Golds with Roon? I use AirPlay to a stereo pair which works wonderfully grouped with 5 other AirPlay zones in my apartment. It's a nice setup.
@DesertEagleAZ @vaguedetails
Any chance you could try the iFi UPnP bridge on DOS2? Not working well with DOS1 due to the bad UPnP implementation of Devialet. Maybe DOS2 has better implementation of UPnP.

No Golds here. Just the white/classic/elevate (whatever they are calling them this week). I’m using a Raspberry Pi with a Hifiberry Digi+ hat so I can use RAAT to stream. A couple other zones with something similar running to allow grouping when necessary.
