I use three opticals input (L, R, Dialog). It won't do anything special when two of them are active. The auto-switch (which is enabled by default and cannot be disabled in DOS2) only works in when one of the optical devices is started (when the optical becomes lighted), otherwise, it's ignored until you switch to it in the app.
That is a good news , so as you said there is a kind of auto swicht that auto-detect the input ; and if it see the light (optical) it become ready to output it once selected.
So you answered my question about multiple optical input usage.

My experience with Devialet Phantom was not as good as some other owners; I've got a lot of problem because of a software bug.
But now , Devialet customer care force my Right Gold Phantom to get the 2.8.5 update (it was stuck at 2.8.0) and my listening experience is better.

But I still have unanswered questions that I asked Devialet Customer Care ... I've bought 2 Devialet Gold Phantom at one week interval
( I tried one first and bought a new one to get a stereo experience).
I had (like previously said) a whole bunch of problems; stability, dropping, missing Phantom... missing AirPlay... but all these side effect
seem to be ...because software difference between both Phantom 2.8.5 / 2.8.0

At that time, using a WIFI Sniffer test ; I saw another difference between my two Gold Phantom; One was using Liteon WIFI chipset and the other Gemicom WIFI chipset on description (name) of my WIFI client of my router.

And also noticed; that one was warmer than the other on standby operation; and the warmer was the one with the 2.8.5 software upgrade and was the Left. And from this chat people told me that the left been Master and trafficking a lot of data and sending that information to the right, so maybe that is why that Left Phantom draw 3 times more power from the source than the right one!

Now that I have the same version of the software for both of my Phantom , I did a new test... separate my Phantom, interchanging the
Left by the Right (now that was working!) and retest again all the power usage!

Now I have a new Left Master ( previously the Right one) and the power usage still the same , three time lower than the other Phantom on standby! (5.8 Watt)
So using this Phantom as the Master (left) does not increase is power usage...  My question that Devialet did not answer is :
Is this the WIFI chipset from not the same manufacturer that cause this power usage gain or what cause that ?

So as conclusion ; for me it is not normal that one of the Phantom drain 3 x more power than the other one !
As my test suggest my M30P002754U10 Gold Phantom drain always (Master or Not - Left or Right) 5.8 W and
                            my M37P000874U06 Gold Phantom drain always ( "     "      "       "        "       ) 15.8 W

Is there a defective Phantom ? Draining more power does mean less year of usage? Do I try to get a new one (replacement) from Devialet?

Any suggestions chat users ?

Very interesting @rogmay.  Your initial observations were consistent with mine (same power draw on the Left/"Master" Phantom) , your latest observations really surprise me.  Good questions and I will be very interested to hear the answers (if any) you get from Devialet.  Please keep us in the loop.
@rogmay I think it is quite common for a manufacturer to change the components over the years. Your tests clearly show that the Wifi chip is not the same any more, maybe they updated some electronics to drain less power, too?

Hi everyone,

I wish everybody feel good in this pandemic crisis. Just want to let you know to STRUTS and other who help me with this Chat that
I finally get an exchanged from Devialet after months of arguing about one of my Phantom Gold that drained more current than my other one.
And for me it was not normal. So they send me a new one , did the upgrade to 2.9.0 and now my pair work and drain the same power on standby both side
equally!

Everything seem to be back to normal for me; if someone could tell me the manufacturing date and year of my new Gold Phantom (or tell me where I could go to find it)
I would appreciate , just for fun.

My new serial is: M48P005474U10

Thanks for all

Congrats @rogmay, so glad your story ended well.  Your new unit was manufactured in week 48 of 2019, i.e. w/c 25th November.

Do someone knows the meaning of the last four digits of the serial number? Strangely , my older who drain more current was finishing with 4U06 and now I get my two speakers with the same ending four digits 4U10 ??

No idea, sorry.
Does the web interface still work on DOS 2.16.1?
