Any help anyone please?  I don’t use Roon (Aurender user) so have not bothered with latest firmware upgrade.  Recently Airplay wouldn’t work so decided to upgrade the firmware.  I’m a self-confessed computer no hoper but followed instructions (including following YouTube video on formatting (?) sd card).  Both sd cards (have a 1000 Pro) have the 14 files on them but when inserted and powered up nothing has happened i.e. no firmware installation.  Anyone got any ideas as I don’t wish to wait up to 48 hours for Isaac to reply!  Cheers in advance.
Remove power plug from Devialet.
Wait few seconds
Insert sd card
Install power plug.
Thank you for your reply - tried that didn’t load firmware sadly. Just went straight to “optical 1” which I don’t even have installed! I can scroll through “sources” and get different sources but no new firmware!

Sounds like your Devialet doesn't recognise sd card. Can you try some other card?
And remember, you need to have separate sd card for both 250pro. Or put firmwire files again to sd card after you have installed first Devialet.
Actually in Devialet site they instruct first insert sd card, then remove power and again install power

I'm confused. Your heading for this thread reads "Latest firmware upgrade (Roon)" yet you open by stating that you don't use Roon and it appears you're trying to upgrade the firmware for your 1000 Pro. If you're having problems updating the Devialet firmware you should edit the thread title so that it doesn't refer to Roon firmware.

I know from personal experience that the SD card slot on a Devialet can fail. It happened to me with my 140 Pro last year and I had to return it to France for repair. Having said that, I think the chances of the card slot failing simultaneously on both amps in a dual amp system are extremely low so I don't think that's your problem.

First, if the amp isn't reading your card you should see an error message on the window of top of each amp stating that there's a problem with the card. You will still be able to start the amp up in Factory Configuration mode but in Factory Configuration every input will be active which is why you're seeing "Optical 1" as the input when the amp starts up. It's starting up in Factory Configuration. You can't uninstall an input, you can only inactivate it which allows you to cycle through the inputs you're using without seeing the inputs you aren't using but in Factory Configuration all inputs are active so you will see every input as you press the Remote's input button to cycle through the inputs.

My guess for a cause of your problem is that it is may be due to one of 5 things:

1- the card didn't seat properly in the slot of the amp when you inserted it. If that's the case try inserting it again and make sure it goes in straight, not at a slight angle, and that it locks securely in place.

2- when you formatted the cards, you formatted them in a format the Devialet does not recognise such as an Apple format if you're using a Mac. You need to use an MS FAT format.

3 - You copied the folder containing the update files to the card so the files are present on the card in a folder. You have to copy the files only, they can't be in a folder on the card or the amp won't find them. It's programmed to look for the individual files at the root level in the card's directory.

4- the update files got corrupted somehow. I haven't had problems with corrupt files for an update but I have had a config file get corrupted in the download process. I'd try downloading the update files again, copying the newly downloaded files to the cards, and trying the update process again.

5- you're using SD cards which are larger than 8 GB. The amp will only recognise cards of 8 GB or less. The card that comes with each amp is a 2 GB card and if you're using new cards I'd try using the original cards the amps came with to see if that solves the problem.

I hope one of those suggestions works for you.

Thanks again, I will try that in the morning
Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. I shall look into all these points in the morning. The folder I copied did include the “Read Me” firmware guides. Should I take them off the sd card? (Hence only 12 individual items)

No, just copy all of the files onto the SD card and you’re good to go.
