Many Phantom users also use  Roon and may be waiting for a firmware with RAAT for their Phantoms (also Reactors)

This is what Devialet support had to say about this today June 26...so don't hold your breath Rolleyes

"Roon compatibility with Phantom is not in our short-term roadmap yet.

But following some non-official communication with some engineers, it seems Devialet is becoming aware that these are great technologies! But, I cannot give you an availability date at this time

Thanks for sharing. The absence of RAAT on the Phantom line is why I have not purchased beyond the pair of Silvers I have or recommended Phantom to those who hear mine. Wonderful hardware, disappointing software.  <sigh>
Phantoms have been on my shopping list for a long time. Even the Reactor, although I think the lower mid range might be problematic for me. Phantom hardware is almost a miracle, but after this RAAT forecast I've removed them from the list and looking elsewhere

Indeed very disappointing. RAAT on Phantoms is a non-brainer. Specifically, after changing to DOS2, upnp as only hires streaming format is a bad decision. Luckily, with adding a RPi HAT per Phantom pair they can be made almost ‚Roon ready‘. With an extension the volume can be controlled directly in Roon. But this works only when the Phantoms are still on DOS1. For me enough reason not to update, but unfortunately also not to expand the system with more Phantoms. A pity for Devialet and their business.

A Dialog makes it relatively easy to integrate a Phantom system with Roon. I have a Dialog plugged into the optical out from my Roon core (a Mac Mini), and both are stashed away in the server closet. The Phantoms and Dialog are connected via ethernet. Works great. Volume control is not through Roon, but the Phantom remote.
I built a cheap RPi Roon endpoint for my golds, and have been very happy with it. RaspBerry Pi 4, whatever case you like, HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro hat, and HiFiBerryOS made configuration a snap. I already had the little hockey puck Phantom remote, so DOS2 has been perfect for my usage with Roon.
I use a rpi4 with RoPieee myself and that would certainly work with Phantoms with an appropriate HAT, however this must be considered a workaround compared to RAAT direct. Devialet has indicated they will have RAAT with Phantoms.
The Devialet Expert amplifiers have had RAAT for some time now and that works very well (apart from those that have trouble with RAAT and 1GB connections). With DOS1 and Dialog I guess Roon works well, but if one buys new Phantoms today they will be delivered with DOS2. Ethernet sounds better than Toslink (I've heard) so with DOS2 RAAT would probably be the way to go.
A user over at the Roon Forum has been in contact with Devialet Support regarding RAAT. Supposedly they support person wrote that the Phantom is in the final stage of RAAT certification, just waiting for the certification from Roon. That would be great news if it's true, but I would not hold my breath. Support representatives have said a lot of things before.

Good follow up on the new Expert firmware! Let's keep fingers crossed for RAAT on Phantoms..

In the “Identify Your Device” settings, the ability to choose the Phantom is a new addition. Previously you could only select from the expert range, even though the phantom line art has been available in the Roon KB for a few years now.
