Full Version: Do the (quality of) DC cables matter?

Hi,

I saw you can upgrade the standard DC cables which come with most linear power supplies to better (build) ones. Is this an interesting hearable upgrade to consider?
I’d like to know too!
Yes, i still do too ;-)

Here you have options: https://ghentaudio.com/part/list-dc.html

Also, Keces from which i own a lps is selling very expensive ones: https://www.kempelektroniksshop.nl/m-way...-dacs.html

But yeah, is this something you are able to hear, compared to the standard cheapo black cables...?

The cable in that link is listed as an M-Way cable, not a Keces cable. Kemp Electronics sell Keces but those cables are not listed as Keces products on their page for Keces products and it's Kemp Electronics, not Keces, who are selling them.

I checked your link because I use a Keces LPS and I too have wondered about other DC cables so I wanted to see what price Keces cables were selling for, only to find that the cables you were referring to aren't from Keces.
Most providers of LPS also sell DC cables with right termination (or different options). I assume that those cables are just as likely as others to act as antennas if they are not correctly shielded. What degree of impact this would have I have no first hand experience with. Someone in Hong-Kong must have done a comparison. Smile

I am personally biased towards Mojo audio that has been constantly performing well for me.

You are right, my wrong. But when you select the Keces, these M-way cables turn up as options.

Apart from that, the question still stands: Do these better build DC cables make a difference?
Audioquest which is also provided / recommended by Devialet has amazing power cables. Tried NRG-Z3, Monsoon and Thunder High Current with remarkable results.

But those are AC power cables, not DC power cables for providing power at low voltage over a range from around 5V to 19V from a linear power supply to a device like a server or ethernet switch. This thread is specifically about DC power cables.
Oh sorry!

Don´t be!
I´m very interested in your experience with AQ NRG Z3.
The cable, itself, looks pretty similar to the DEV original powercord.
Did you feel a notorious difference between the two?
