New much better prices for upgrade programme to Expert Pro with Core Infinity
https://www.devialet.com/soon/expert-pro-upgrade/
My gut feeling is saying they are just milking the last cents from Expert line and then they will finalize the lifetime of it maybe with a final software release.

The last time I saw Devialet with an Expert Pro advertisement in social media was more than a year ago. Definitely, they don't want to promote anything in that line as it is pending something as a final decision Smile

(I am not manipulating, that's totally based on my gut feeling, nothing less or more.)

i dont see how such reply brings any value to the thread. You have made your point in other posts as well. Maybe the forum becomes a nicer place to dwell around in case this hijacking of threads is less prominent. Of course to each its own but saying it once is sufficient.
Good opportunity for folks who were on the fence on the upgrade decision. Thanks to OP for posting the information.

It would be a real shame if you are right. The Expert line is better, relatively speaking, than any of the Phantoms. If Phantoms where time coincident (by DSP which is in heavy use anyway, wouldn't cost anything extra)  and correction for the bass and midrange back-wave (again DSP) it would look a bit different.
As it is now, Devialet can't even manage to add RAAT to Phantoms, forget time correction and other nice DSP functions. It would be just sad if Devialet stopped the Expert line of amplifiers.

I think I've seen an Expert Pro advertisement in nearly every issue of Stereophile for the last year or more and I also think I've seen more reviews of Expert Pros in print and on online websites in the last year than I saw in the year or two before that. Any survey based on sampling of any kind, whether that be of advertisements or reviews or whatever, delivers results based on the quality of the sampling and what we see depends on where we look. You and I are obviously looking in different places and seeing different things as a result. I'm not on Facebook or any other social media service but what I've seen from comments here about their postings on social media tends to suggest to me that the frequency of their postings on social media goes up considerably when they're about to release something new and drops once the release is made when advertising elsewhere goes up. I think they use social media to tease interest in preparation for product releases and tend to advertise elsewhere but I could be wrong.

I think Devialet use social media for getting news out there and building anticipation. Those who see some new announcement spread it around amongst other people which ensures it gets a lot of coverage. Nobody spreads new advertisements for existing products around anywhere near as much as they spread news items around. Advertisements aren't news. I don't think I'll be seeing any posts about Devialet comments on social media until Devialet are about to announce something they want to prepare people for and once that preparation and the announcements are over they'll stop using social media again until the next time. If you want to look for Devialet advertisements you probably need to look elsewhere.

That's my gut feeling.
Don’t get me wrong here, I am waiting a proper software update and honest support from them for a long time to upgrade my 220 to 440. Even after all these fails, I really want to be wrong and see a great stability and upgrade my 220. But all the signs I am seeing (copy/paste support responses, no Expert Pro in the demo rooms, Spanish dealer has discounted prices until the stock is gone, when I ask them why do they apply the old Expert campaing to Expert Pros, my super responsive dealer went to total silence) is in the opposite direction. And this additonal discount on the upgrade plan (we know that they were always strictly keeping the upgrade prices ridiculously high) cause me to feel that these are more evidence of the bad things. But again, let’s hope I will be wrong Smile

All these a side, I think the upgrade plans are well priced now. If it is just before a great software upgrade to prepare the old Expter owners, it is an amazing opportunity. Let’s get excited one more time!
What was the previous upgrade price ?

I’ll probably go for it even if they’ll discontinue the line

Any thoughts ?

@ada ,

I'm more optimistic about the future than you sound but sometimes I find myself wondering why I remain as optimistic as I am. You might say that Devialet customer relations leave a lot to be desired if you didn't find yourself thinking at times that Devialet have so little communication with their customers about what they're doing that you could easily get the impression that they don't have any customer relations :-) That's not a good sign and the conflicting info that different Devialet staff members have given different people about a firmware update definitely gives a very bad sign to owners. Devialet are their own worst enemy.
David, any thoughts about the price?
