Apparently a new DOS version was released. The release note includes a hint regarding an upcoming Phantom accessory.

Anyone knows what "direct optical mode" is ?
Finally! The direct optical mode is available for DOS2! Time to upgrade from DOS1?

Edit:
@Haytera
Direct optical mode is a low latency mode where only the optical input is working, at 100% volume. You'll need a preamplifier with adjustable optical output to control the volume.

I am wondering the same thing.  Things are working well still so there is no rush.  I am curious about the accessory.  Wonder what it could be....

A remote not looking like a moisturizer jar, with more than one function, to a reasonable price?

... DOS 2.11.2 update bricked one of my two Phantom Classic. Dialog and the other updated fine. Factory reset would not bring it back (is according to the Webinterface seemingly held in an endless configuration loop). I already talked to Devialet Support. Will probably need to be exchanged.

Can you remind me as to what the benefits are to upgrading to DOS2, assuming it doesn't 'brick' the Phantoms.

The old adage of "if it isn't broken why fix it" springs to mind.
I'm finding this update to be unstable. I was having on/off issues with wireless connectivity and gave up and am now using ethernet. All was good until this update. I don't know if it's the app, but it has trouble finding the Phantoms and configuring the stereo pair. I did it once and now it's lost. Everyday I feel one step closer to giving up and getting HomePods. Wonder what this future accessory is.
Can anyone explain direct ootical mode and a use case.

Thx

Based on what I have read on this forum you can set the Phantom Premiers into this direct optical mode to eliminate latency when connected to, for example, a gaming console.

But you will need additional hardware between the console, the TV, and your Phantoms. I am looking into the details, and am aiming to take out Dante from the equation if possible.
