Today I upgraded my White Premier Phantom (both App and the firmware). I can see that it is now called Phantom I Light Chrome.

If I reboot the Device, it will come and I can connect from my iphone using bluetooth. However if I stop playing and let it remain idle for few minutes, I cannot play again either with Bluetooth or Airplay. Only after restart of Phantom will it play again.

This is not good.

Is there a factory reset procedure ?
Own a pair of Golds in stereo. Same exact thing. After hard reboot, it works until switching inputs or performing any other tasks, then the whole system freezes without response and needs a new hard reboot. And the cycle continues. The system has been down for two days now and it’s the first time where the problem has not resolved with some sort of reset. This is very bad. If Devialet takes their sweet time t release a new firmware, some of us could be permanently down until they do.
I tried the normal factory reset - pressing the rear button three times and it restarts, but same issue.

If the song is playing over bluetooth and I simply stop the song and wait for few seconds and restart playing, no sound comes out. The Devialet app shows that song is being streamed.
Same with Airplay.

Does anybody know the procedure for complete reset of the device - some weird power on/off sequence.
Procedure is as follows: unplug all speakers and modem/router. Leave unplugged for at least 30 seconds. Plug in the router/modem first and let it completely boot. Then plug in the speakers and let them boot. Press the rear button on each speaker 3-5 times until they flap their wings and chirp. Now you can go to the app and reinstall them. But don’t bother, this will not fix the issue. I’m in contact with Devialet’s software people and have submitted several crash reports. So far they have been very responsive and seem to be wanting to fix this issue. I will post back here when I hear from them with a solution.
Ok this is worrying!

I updated in good faith and trust and it’s things like this that make you lose confidence in the system and process.

I too have had an issue switching between inputs since updating.

I have optical toslink feed to both left and right stereo paired classic phantoms.

One takes the link from the innuos zen for streaming and files, the other a link to my turntable via puffin preamp.

Yesterday, only 24hrs after update, the left speaker seemed to mute or stop when I switched between feeds on the Aux options via the Devialet app (also updated). Only an unplug and reboot triggered back the pairing.

Oddly, since then this hasn’t happened again, but I haven’t tried doing the switch more than a couple of times. Reading these posts makes me feel it will return however!

I’ll also submit a problem report if (when) it happens again.

I share your frustrations as it seems all good for only a short while then updates cause weeks of issues. I still wince at the memory of the ‘cathedral’ sound impact of an update a while back that took an age to resolve.

Press 3-5 times the rear button is not correct. Press the button 5 seconds until they flap voor the second time with a special noise. See help devialet.
I rolled back the firmware to 2.11.5 and that has fixed the issue.

How to rollback the firmware: Turn off, wait for 7 seconds, Turn on, wait for 3 seconds - repeat the process 4 times.

Btw, when the device is turned on, do not wait for it come up make the woosh sound and then count 3 seconds. Just turn on switch, count 3sec and then turn it off.

I will contact Devialet support today to understand if there is any solution.

Steps I did:
1. Rolled back the firmware with above procedure. Tested everything yesterday night and things are working
2. Used the App to again update the firmware from f2.11.5 to 2.12.3 and then observed things are still bad. It is as if the device is muted. Even single pressing the back button does not make a noise. If I press the serial number of the device in the app, the device does not make a noise.
3. Again did the above procedure and rolled back the firmware back to 2.11.5. The old firmware is working satisfactorily.

I have never had upgrade problems before and this is the first time I am having issues with Upgrade.

** UPGRADE TO LATEST FIRMWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK ****
Interesting
Thanks for this

When you say turn on and off, presume you mean plug and unplug?
Thanks

Yes, plug and unplug. If you have multiple speakers, you can just plug and unplug the entire power strip. This will revert firmware back to 2.11.5 so you will lose Airplay 2.
Thanks for this.
I’m going to see how long it holds as it has only done it the once so far. Good to know there is a roll back safety net. Still frustrating result for something that should be an improvement.
Hope that kills you!
