Devialet Fan Noise

The hi-fi world was in turmoil yesterday, as it appeared that Devialet’s honeymoon period was well and truly over. The exclusive and award-winning French brand, formerly the darling of hi-fi journalists and golden-eared audiophiles alike, began to suffer streams of vitriol on the web.

“The problem is the fans,” said hi-fi critic Hugh Jears, “they’re really noisy. Look, the first Devialet was designed without any fans. It was an über-exclusive product with a techie website and an HDMI port. No fans at all.”

“I just want to listen to my music, but now all I can hear is the fans. It’s really disturbing,” said one Confused owner.

We put this to the man considered by many to be responsible for Devialet’s successful invasion of the UK hi-fi scene, Guillaume le Conquereur. “Look, it’s not my fault. Everyone has to come back down to earth. There won’t be a problem once we’re all properly grounded.”

In the meantime, Guillaume’s internet forum Devialet Chat -- dedicated to discussion of the French hi-fi brand and cats -- continues to be the site of seething discontent. “All we want is for Devialet to talk to us about the problems. We only want a DIALOGUE!” said one furious owner.

Fantastic well done Matt, kinda brings us down to earth without a fan to slow us down.
Genius Matt! The strange thing is, there is nothing I like more than to select a playlist of tunes, sit down and listen to the glorious sounds being produced by my Devialet, whilst reading about white noise, buggy configurators, delayed / non-functioning Dialogs etc. on my iPad. Bliss!
I ordered a Dialog from Colette Sunday night and I received it here on the west coast of the US today. For those in the US who might be interested the Dialog came with a Schuko plug but the Dialog is universal voltage and has a C7 input (I pulled the power cable off an Apple TV and it worked fine).

Now to the part we've all been waiting for--I plugged it in to my router and the USB input on my 200 and fired up Spark hoping for some magic. Nope. Spark finds the Dialog but hangs on the next screen looking for a Phantom. I tried an iPad and macbook with the same results.I tried a couple UPNP control points to see if it showed up as a UPNP renderer but I found nothing. My guess is that both Spark and the Dialog will need updates before this works.

The Dialog comes with the worlds smallest instruction manual and includes instructions for using it with the expert line.

One other thing, the fit and finish on mine is not great. The case is rubberized plastic and mine had some marks on it. Also the sliver trim piece is poorly painted, almost looks like it was done by hand. Looks more like a prototype than a finished product.

Now on to the pics.

please post some photos of the back panel to see its connection.

thanks !
Can the Dialog be used as source if not using Phantom or Expert range? Huh
Thinking of users with other brands and can receive USB as Connection

Once Devialet has activated the USB connection in the firmware of the Dialog this should be possible, yes. Hopefully the Spark app is less buggy by that time. Momentally the Dialog only can be used as a source for the Phantom LSs.
Dialog delivered yesterday afternoon. Despite reports from some of poor quality finish, I must say that mine seems fine, although the rubberised finish does seem to be a likely dirt/dust magnet! As others have reported, instruction manual is so small as to be almost invisible!

It will now sit in cupboard until software update released for use with Expert Line (hopefully in line with Munich in May).

I got mine yesterday as well and whilst it seems well made mine has silver specs of what I guess are spray from the little silver vents on each side. Unless of course it's intentional and all part of the design, but I think it's just a bit of poor quality control.
