Hi!

I would like to ask about the specifications of the Phantom Gold 1 speaker.

What does the maximum power of 1100 W RMS mean? what is the maximum power compsumption in watts? on the website there is 4500 watts of maximum power.

I believe that no power source in any random house can handle such high power (4500 W ?) - that's why I ask this.

The 600W has little to do with the power consumption nor the Rms value of the power amp. It is the peak output the power amp is able to do. With the latest iteration of Phantom Golds to Phantom I 108dB Devialet changed their advertising for Phantoms to what they specify also for their Expert line amps. Rms. So, the Phantom I 108 dB (formerly Phantom Gold) are now specified to 1100W Rms, the Phantom I 103 dB to 500 W Rms.
The Phantom II 98dB, formerly the Reactor 900 now has 400W Rms and the Phantom II 95dB (Reactor 600) has 350 W Rms specified not far of your consumption measurements.
Thanks, but I still don't understand. does it mean that the maximum power consumption is 1100 W or 4500 W (like two high power kettles?)

Yes, probably around 1000W when you constantly listen to noisy sound at very high volume. The consumption is mainly to driving the bass drivers of this small non-ported closed acoustic system. When you have a Phantom you can carefully hold your hands on the drivers and softly try to move them. You will feel the resistance that the closed small volume housing has (don’t try to move them by 2cm Smile). It is like a inflated tyre. At high pressure it is difficult to squeeze and requires a lot of power to do so. The same with the Phantom bass drivers. To have them move with 1 to 2 cm excursion needs a lot of power. The 4500W peak they can deliver very short time due to the capacitors that store energy to be made available very fast and for short amounts, e.g. a bass drum kick. Under normal room listening conditions (SPL around 85-90 dB) only a fraction of this power is needed. The drivers barely move and the power consumption will be less than 100W for a pair of Phantoms.
