On page 4 of the documentation for the new IP Control function for Phantoms released yesterday there is a tantalising reference to "upcoming Devialet products" that will be supported in DOS 2.16.x.  Now this doesn't give the impression of being a broad brush reference to future products in the general sense, but a specific reference to a specific product or products that are only two maintenance releases away.  Extrapolating the recent release cadence of DOS (2.12 Feb 21, 2.13 Jun 21, 2.14 Jan 22) we could be seeing something within a year-or-so*.

So, any rumours?  Any guesses?  Answers on a postcard please..

* Although steady on, this is Devialet, so as usual predictions are difficult - especially where they pertain to the future.
Someone wrote something in this subforum in December about a sound bar with 16 woofers to be released in February 2022. Apparently his local Devialet pusher was the source. The post was deleted after just a few hours. True or not, quite an interesting rumor.

Thanks @ragwo.  Seems unlikely that Devialet would ffwd 2 maintenance releases in the space of a month, although of course stranger things have happened.  Probably more likely is that the February 2022 date is out by a year.  As you say, interesting rumour nonetheless.
Hi im new here, but i heard the same rumours about an upcoming soundbar of Devialet.
Priced at around 2000-3000Euro.

Yesterday i was at our local hifi store and the salesman said that Devialet will release a soundbar in March. He already tested it, i believe.
I can give you more information on the 22nd of February. Thats when im going to have a listening session of the Phantom at their store. Smile

Greets,

Chris
@Crilch
That's exciting news! Don't tell my better half though, she is more than a willing to sacrifice my Phantom surround setup for a soundbar.

If you say so, I wont Wink

But I think the salesman said it was only an 2:1 soundbar. So i dont think it will be challenger to your real surround setup.
A 5.5 surround setup with Phantoms? Thats possible? Doesnt it endager the structural intergrity of your house if you turn them up? Big Grin
You connected them via optical or wirelessly? Can you send me a link to how you did it? Im really interrested in it.
Can one also do a 5.5 or 5.0 setup with Phantom 1s AND Phantom Reactors at the same time? Like L/R front Phantom 1 and as a center and L/R back Reactors? Or does it distort the sound spectrum?
Questions over questions...

Greets,

Chris
@Crilch
I'm using a surround preamp and several analogue to digital converters, using the optical inputs on the speakers. The speakers are divided into three different zones, front, center and rear. Works very well. Luckily the house is still standing. You can see details on my setup in the link in my signature.

Running both Phantom I and II is no problem. @njaiswal has exactly the surround setup you're mentioning. He's using optical direct via Dante, a much more sophisticated setup than mine.

Greets,

That's dissapointing, a 2:1 soundbar is not even comparable to 2 golds. I was hoping that it would be a subwoofer and control center for a surround setup with phantoms (so that you dont need to do all kinds of tricky stuff like ragwo and njaiwal Smile, aaaah well, devialet had never been about the easy way (although my phantoms do fine)
