RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - alexandredp - 11-Sep-2024 I agree with SupaDean, every time I lost signal, stereo etc. with my 2 Phantom Gold Premier + Dialog, it was due to my LAN becoming sub par... and gee it is easy to get to that crap state when one is forced to use one DSL modem for Internet connected Ethernet to one WIFI router linking to a repeater via 5ghz for max throughput then phantoms connected to Dialog with Ethernet to repeater and Dialog getting source via Tos-link from dedicated sound PC using W11 and Sound blaster top ext sound card... Nothing but net huh? So when sh.t happens, I now blame my repeater, LAN etc. first and when I reset or modify (Wi-Fi congestion etc.) things get back to normal... It took me a while to make the jump to DOS 2 as I was afraid it would get worse... well yes and no... had less LAN issues before maybe, but the setup is now fast and clean and I do think I m perceiving a little better with sound too... Just my 2 bobs here guys to try save you time etc. in sending the speakers back if the problem sits elsewhere... That would make me very angry to be without my Golds as I listen to them EVERY day 365 days (if I am home) for at least 12 hours straight... Hi @floriz01 welcome to the 'fun'. Give it a try just to see how things work and at some place you need to use a WIFI point but i try to limit my 'reliance' on the WIFI. I don't do much streaming from online services but that will increase your reliance on the wif network. So some of what i suggest might not be as simple if you want or need to use streaming services. A simple AP point with your Devialet client is best. Take an old router with a WIFI and plug your speakers into it, setup its own network, and plug the WAN side of that router into your current network. That will pretty much isolate your speakers on its own network, with internet access, and you use that WIFI access point to connect to and control or feed the speakers. I do this but i also use that router for other devices i want to keep isolated from some other private network. then I use an old android phone that pretty much just runs only as a Devialet control , remote point. If you use your phone and you are roaming around a mesh network then your client gets passed around and confuses the simple minded speakers network stack who has it.. Use Ethernet avoid WIFI for the speaker to speaker connection. Use a nearby WIFI AP on the same network segment( use a old router or take an AP and plug it into the same network switch your speakers are plugged int). Once configured i use the ethernet to control the speakers via a custom windows client. (http://halrad.com, its rough but works). I leave my phone client connected but rarely use it other than to connect (join or leave) two systems together for 'multi-room' use case. (via the android or ios client) Sources (Dialog or Arch) are selected via my app/system. (i only use these two most of the time) The dialog and or arch is fed from whatever is desired. Volume is controlled via the volume remote or my app/system or a phone/tablet devialet client. biggest complaint is every time you reboot your speakers. I recommend doing this weekly. the source IDs change.. if you use the devialet client app you dont care, if you use my app you have to learn the new index for the source you want. (i use optical which is hard to pick them apart, have to do it via Device ID, in the current sources list) but you dont care about that unless you are a dev. point is: use ethernet as much as possible. keep it simple. stay away from all of the fancy mesh stuff. use an old router and AP if you have one , it might make your life easier.. good luck, let us know how it goes....!!! lots of people have hit issues, i doubt you have 2 bad speakers in a row.! RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - molecule93 - 15-Oct-2024 Hi, my listening experience with Devialet has changed since I bought a dedicated router. I use an Asus with references provided by Devialet. I stream from my iPad with an application to play Qobuz music through Upnp by Wifi and I can stream most of the tracks without issue. Compared to using the router provided by my internet provider, it's day and night. Might be worth having a look at. RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - Hsoeby - 17-Nov-2024 Make sure you phantoms are on the same power cable / outlet. I also recommend moving any google devices to another network - that solved a lot of problems for me, no clue why - but haven’t had any issues for the past 1-2 years after I changed this ! BTW I only use WIFI and have absolutely no problems now. (Phantoms uses auto PLC thru power cables, that make sync between my 4 GOLDS perfect) RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - alexandredp - 02-Jan-2025 (04-Feb-2024, 15:46)floriz01 Wrote: Hi Everyone - I'm new here and unfortunately an unhappy Devialet owner from Amsterdam. Nice to meet you all!! For what it is worth... having the Premier on Devialet columns, I had the belief that running the optical, Ethernet and power cable though the trunk would not cause any issue in locking the device properly.... alas... it has been a struggle and eventually it kinda worked and the lock was achieved .... but recently I have had some TS with regarding losing the left one on and off for no apparent reason, having to reset the pair etc.... something I managed to track down to how good my Eth connection was to one of the spkr.... connected the device directly with a good Eth cable bypassing the provided one and.... so far no more LAN issues... I should have tried to analyse the traffic as I probably would have discovered a sht load of repeat and errors caused by a bad cable.... Also something to keep in mind guys if you, too, experience less than perfect sound. Personally I always blame my LAN first. So far it never "failed" me... pun intended. RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - tbb852 - 25-Nov-2025 if you think Phantoms works fine, check the network setup first 1. Hard reset Phantoms, and relink them into stereo 2. bind Phantom's MAC addresses into fixed IP in router settings, or set fixed IP in Phantoms settings (thru web portal) 3. use 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz. Connect using ethernet cable is the best option actually. Nice to meet you all!!TRY: 1 - Ensure no device on LAN causes packets errors. Turns out some devices used or not but connected, still cause switch errors... Plug ONLY one Phantom at a time first. test each time. 2 - Test cables and ports. Sometimes connecting Ethernet to Phantom tree, floor plug, then using Devialet tree cable to phantom, fixes issue (poor connection?) 3 - Hard Reset all devices, if need be, and maybe use a fixed IP address (no DHCP) 4 - Try connecting each phantom to SPDIF (use a splitter and web interface setting for stereo) ... RE: Phantom I Stereo Pair - Music one Speaker constantly breaking-up - meta - 19-Dec-2025 didn't read the whole thread but i've been having one speaker in the stereo pair do a sudden half second drop out while playing music vids on youtube and it is really annoying. the thing that seems to be fixing it is power off both speakers wait at least 30 seconds then power both back on at the same time. seems to have done the trick. hope it sticks edit: for the record it's a pair of golds (shiny) and all is up to date |
