RE: Astra reviews - markush - 22-Jun-2025 Devialet is doing very little PR work - there are hardly any Astra reviews at all, especially mainly all major audio publications. Don't know if they still see a future in this. And their software efforts are still a mess, when actually all other vendors have already integrated Qobuz Connect, Devialet is still not updating. RE: Astra reviews - jfddoc - 22-Jun-2025 Here is another new review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_8glHcL-Yc RE: Astra reviews - hardcore - 22-Jun-2025 It's good to see him mentioning the Expert Pro too. RE: Astra reviews - mdconnelly - 23-Jun-2025 It strikes me that Devialet marketing of the Astra is targeted toward a high end, wealthy clientele that care more about design and aesthetic issues than your typical audiophile customer. They do seem to hype the bling factor (who else offers a gold leaf variant ;-). Nothing wrong with that but how big can that audience be? (hmm, perhaps I'd be surprised). It's certainly different from how the Expert/Pro series was marketed and reviewed. Perhaps they've also learned a lesson in how NOT to promise futures or evolution of the product given how poorly that worked for the Expert Pro. Whatever is going on with Devialet, I find it a shame that they abandoned the Expert Pro series yet stole shamelessly from it to create the Astra. I'm still enjoying my 440 Pro a lot but there is little about the Astra in it's price range that appeals to me. Plus, there is a whole lot of legit competition at the Astra's price range that I'd be looking at if/when I decide it's time to replace my 440. More importantly, how is an Astra different from the Expert Pro? Does it really sound better and if so in what way? I don't see any reviewers mentioning that, and I suspect the Astra sounds similar to the Expert Pro, just more 'gold' on it ..... My music setup includes an Aurender W20SE feeding a Devialet Expert Pro 440 amplifier, paired with a set of Burmester B38 speakers. The listening area is approximately 30 square metres. As I requested a comparison, the local dealer brought a single Astra for me to test against the 440. I have one, it is amazing. I traded in my Luxman 509Z and my A-Class Luxman 590 AXII to buy an Astra, and it is incredible. RE: Astra reviews - ada - 29-Jul-2025 Expert Pro is more incredible, I have 440 Pro and it is amazing, it can't be beating in earth or hell. Do not buy an Astra without listening one Expert Pro! Do not buy an Astra without listening one Expert Pro! I'm sorry, but the Astra is far superior. It' ok for you to be wrong once in a while. This is that time.
