At least for the sake of rebuilding its reputation Devialet should make it available to the Expert line. But Qobuz we could already add as a service for years via Roon. What's the fuzz on Qobuz connect? Just that you can control the Devialet from the Qobuz app? Other than the HiRes part, is the lossless quality better than Tidal? 1) If you don't have (or want) Roon, it would be a great way to stream to your Expert/Expert Pro. My understanding is that this is even more in demand given issues with AIR. 2) While Qobuz via Roon sounds great to my ears, I have heard that streaming via Qobuz Connect sounds even better. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to check that out. RE: Qobuz Connect finally released - audio_engr - 10-Jun-2025 As I use a Wattson digital streamer along with my 440-Pro, and Wattson is Qobus Connect listed, I was able to use Qobus Connect and compare against my standard Roon based streaming. Qobus Connect does sound impressive that focusses high on clarity with a more immediate and big holographic soundstage. On prolonged listening sessions, I found the transparency vs. musicality lean towards more clarity whereas thru Roon, it was better balanced for my listening preference. Thus, I've reverted back to Roon and preferences may differ as audio is subjective. This is very system dependent, depending on your Roon setup and whole streamer setup, actually it also depends on the phone that you use for Qobuz Connect. I haven't tried Qobuz Connect, for Tidal Connect the model of phone you use does have influence on the sound output. Actually, even on my friend's Roon setup, the phone controlling the Roon playback still affects the sound. There will be less of a difference if you use iPhone as all are about the same. Android phones differ a lot more between different models and brands. RE: Qobuz Connect finally released - Delija - 12-Jun-2025 You can turn off the phone during reproduction - that much influence it has ![]() BTW, Roon is inferior even to UPnP - on Devialet and literally all streamers I have heard, not just in my system. I use a dedicated iPad Pro 11-inch running iOS 18.5 with mostly all services disabled except Roon, Devialet Volume monitor, Qobus and Wattson. The internet connection to the iPad is Ethernet wired (not WiFi). I've used both Qobus Connect & Wattson to directly stream but much prefer the Roon. As I said earlier, "Audio is subjective" and each to his own! RE: Qobuz Connect finally released - sam1000 - 30-Jun-2025 Thanks to this thread, I decided to try Qobuz Connect—and the results were surprising. While this is, of course, subjective, I used the same DAC (TAD D1000mk2) and found the output noticeably more dynamic and clear, with a wider soundstage and even more precise imaging. I tested it with two different streamers: a Chromecast Audio using wifi(via optical) and a Zenith Mk3 with Ethernet (via USB). The Chromecast struggled with hi-res recordings but performed very well with CD-quality streams. The Zenith, on the other hand, had trouble with CD-quality playback. Although they claim this issue has been fixed, I still couldn’t get non-hi-res tracks to play on the Zenith—even after a firmware upgrade. I really hope Devialet adds Qobuz Connect support to the Expert line. In the meantime, WiiM or something similar might be a solid alternative for streaming. (P.S. I'm a lifetime Roon subscriber and have a sonicTransporter i7 as Roon core, but I don’t think I’ll be using it to stream Qobuz anymore. In 2ch I was already using sense app from Innuos. It’s odd, given that both platforms deliver bit-perfect streams, but the perceived difference was too good to my ears.) I confirm WiiM is a great option for Qobuz Connect, even through Wi-Fi. Simple, reliable, effective, and inexpensive. RE: Qobuz Connect finally released - blair.athol - 22-Oct-2025 For the time being, with Roon currently not able to show and play Qobuz Playlists, I found a workaround to make use of Qobuz Connect with my iPhone. On the iPhone, I select my iMac as the Qobuz Connect output device. On the iMac, I run the Qobuz app using Devialet Air as output. It works perfectly for streaming in Hires up to 192 kHz, 24 Bits. The iPhone is just the remote. No need to use Airplay. Of course, the prerequisite is Devialet Air on the Mac which in my case runs smoothly since I did not upgrade to the latest IOS on the Mac (still using Sonoma 14.7.5). Sounds great with a wide soundstage and musicality. RE: Qobuz Connect finally released - blair.athol - 23-Oct-2025 Anyone who made same experience or tried this connection to stream with Qobuz? |
