I've never seen a battery that's not silver and this thing is gold coloured so it might be something else. Does anyone have any idea? RE: Streamer board......? - Nightmare - 12-Apr-2017 A piece of pure gold that lifts the price up from € 150 to the announced € 1.500 RE: Streamer board......? - Rufus McDufus - 12-Apr-2017 It looks like a typical NVRAM/CMOS battery to me. I have seen gold-coloured ones as well as silver. Price should be more like €1.50 in reality. RE: Streamer board......? - Rufus McDufus - 12-Apr-2017 If it's NVRAM, it's usually used to store settings that you want to persist when the unit is powered off. Perhaps being used for BIOS settings if the device has a BIOS? I'm speculating a bit here... Computers such as Raspberry Pi don't have a requirement for onboard batteries as there's no BIOS to speak of. RE: Streamer board......? - thumb5 - 12-Apr-2017 May also be used to keep a real-time clock/calendar running when the hardware is otherwise powered down. Streamer board......? - Soniclife - 12-Apr-2017 Let's hope it's not so that it can go online on the middle of the night and download new firmware.
