So I can get 30% off if I trade in my 440 Pro Dual, but only if they deem it to be in perfect ‘condition’ and I won’t know exactly how much discount I’m getting until they have received and assessed it. In the meantime I would have to pay out the full amount, £28,000 for an Astra Dual, and even if they do deem the 440 to be worth the full 30% discount, I’m still paying an extra £19,600….
That would be a big fat NO…

Now that Expert is NLA, they may as well update the apps and firmware for it, in fact I think it would be a pretty stellar public relations move for them to do so.
Since there is no longer any option to buy an Expert, this can't cannibalise any Astra sales.
Otherwise, if I were a prospective Astra customer, I would be looking at what happened with keeping the apps and firmware up-to-date, despite the initial suggestions at time of sale. I'd be asking why I should expect anything different from Astra, over future years.
In terms of "upgrading" from Expert Pro, it's not a tempting proposition for me. The apparent loss of Sweetroom is a showstopper, just for starters.
Also, I'm wondering what this means for the pre-Astra repair capability. My D-Premier needed a repair a few years back.

There is a new processor and bunch of new hardware related with WIFI, USB, Bluetooth etc. I am not sure if they bother themselves after almost 8 years to port all the drivers and firmware changes to Expert line as Expert officially removed from their product line.

Let's move on and (still) enjoy our CLASSIC Expert line! Or not...
I remember paying a hefty sum to upgrade my 500 to the promised CI platform. The sales pitch emphasized the transition to a sustainable operating system to guarantee continuous support. Unfortunately, most of us succumbed to the FOMO syndrome.
Regrettably, the updates started slowing and eventually ceased.
I am glad I abandoned the whole platform and moved on.

Just put in the details for upgrading my Expert to Astra dual and it says I would receive a 35% trade in. The advertised price of the Astra is CHF 38,000 making the cost for the “upgrade” £22,000 to me. If the Astra arrives and disappears as fast as the Expert is this a risk I am prepared to make? I guess you know the answer.

A joke, like I am to pay after the 35% trade in 24500Euro for a lower speced amplifier.
Every aspect of the technical data is lower or worse than my 1000Pro CI.
Less power - Lower power levels on power supply - higher THD distortion - lower SNR ratio - only 2ohm capable - lower damping factor, list goes on..

Just give us the option to rebuild our Experts with the possibly biggest changes, perhaps the ADH new-gen, processor etc...
And the 2way remote capability.

Many questions remain - also about Expert line. What feedback did you get from support when asking about Expert line firmware updates or upgrade possibilities?
