RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - PhilP - 01-May-2015

Looking at the dates and contents of files there appear to be changes in the 'dspm0706' file. Presumably if they have changed the signal processing then it's quite likely that the sound has changed.

RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - Rufus McDufus - 01-May-2015

Here's the file differences from the 7.1.1 I have (which would be the earlier one if there's two different ones) and 7.1.3beta:
Code:
$ diff -rql 7.1.1 SW\ 7.1.3\ CLIENT
Only in 7.1.1: dspm0705.hex
Only in SW 7.1.3 CLIENT: dspm0706.hex
Files 7.1.1/force_fw.txt and SW 7.1.3 CLIENT/force_fw.txt differ
Files 7.1.1/fw_list.txt and SW 7.1.3 CLIENT/fw_list.txt differ
Files 7.1.1/ihm_0700.hex and SW 7.1.3 CLIENT/ihm_0700.hex differ

$ sum -r 7.1.1/dspm0705.hex  SW\ 7.1.3\ CLIENT/dspm0706.hex
31182   123 7.1.1/dspm0705.hex
45577   124 SW 7.1.3 CLIENT/dspm0706.hex

So dspm070{5|6} has the version number suffix changed and contents, ihm_0700.hex is different.  The txt files just installation version-specific files.

RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - Rufus McDufus - 01-May-2015

Just for completeness I thought I'd check my copy of 7.1.1 (the file is dated 26 Jul 2014) and the same version number currently available for download on Devialet's site. Yes there are differences (!) but not with binaries. This is really poor of them however to keep the same version number in two different packages.
Code:
$ diff -rql 7.1.1 7.1.1.current/
Files 7.1.1/force_fw.txt and 7.1.1.current/force_fw.txt differ

$ diff 7.1.1/force_fw.txt  7.1.1.current/force_fw.txt
1c1
< CRC3D30

> CRC1044

<               DUET            OFF
<               FPGA            OFF
<               DSPD            OFF
<               USB                     OFF
---
>               DUET            ON

>               USB                     ON

So in the current version available for download they appear to have changed in force_fw.txt from 'OFF' to 'ON' DUET, FPGA, DSPD, USB - whatever that means! I know for a fact USB works in my installed version of 7.1.1 from 26 July 2014 so not quite sure what they mean - default states perhaps?
[edit] - the force_fw entries might mean something like 'force install even if version number is the same' . Seems daft not to just overwrite everything on install if this is the case though.

RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - octaviars - 01-May-2015

Just downloaded and installed the 7.1.3 file in my 200 but it still says 7.1.1 when I check it in the meny of the Devialet.

Is that right, is it because it`s a beta version?

Ooh, that's not right. Were the old files from the previous firmware definitely wiped from the SD card prior to install? Perhaps try unplugging power and replugging as well.

It should say 7.1.3 or else it is not there! You have to restart the unit to initiate the update files into the unit (after plugging the SD card back).

Rufus is right, must delete all files on the SD card too.

If you look at the display after restart with cards plugged you should notice the transfer of firmware and when that is done you should notice the 'rebooting' of system getting the new firmware to run. Check the display!

Yes, this is what I actually do to be on the safe side (I have on/off on my filter box)!

RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - Caligari - 01-May-2015

Boy I don't like this firmware upgrade at all. Very sibilant and thin sounding compared to the previous.

RE: New beta firmware 7.1.3 released - octaviars - 01-May-2015

The SD card was empty when I put in the 7.1.3 files (not in a folder) but it did not accept the upgrade untill I pulled the power cord so now the display says 7.1.3

Thanks for the help.
