5 volt line of usb kabel - Duomike - 23-Mar-2016
Not sure if this is common knowledge but our devs do not need the 5 volt line, not even for the handshake. My cable got a separat 5 volt line which can be disconnected. Tried that and was susprised that everythink works fine. Have not listen carefully yet whether this makes any difference in sound. Maybe people like to disconnect/remove the 5 volt line from their cables.

I am quite surprised because on my system, I also have a USB cable with a separated 5 V, and it does not work without 5 V (I have a KingRex USB cable and a KingRex U Power battery PSU).

Maybe it also depends on the source, i use a mac mini running audirvana
