RE: New speakers SAM ready - MusicLover - 02-Nov-2014

From Devialet Support, the SAM profile for the SF Olympica II should be ready late this week!

Hope it doesn't involve too much speaker repositioning; God knows it's taken me sweat and blood to find THE spot! Smile

Well, that's exacly it. In my case it's been a good number of months, as I would only try changes around, especially for fine tuning at the very end, when absolutely sure I was well rested and mentally ok for the task! A bit like preparing for a space mission Tongue

I still play with the odd centimetre in rake or toe in from time to time though.

Guess that's part of the fun!

it's out now on the configurator; what are your latest thoughts on SAM with your Olympica IIs?

Now available SAM for Audiovector S3/Si3/SR3 serie. Just installed it for my S3 Avantgarde Arrete, a major improvement in the bass department like adding a high-end subwoofer.

Although at first I thought the change was subtle, the more I listen and compare ON/OFF, the more I like SAM. Still early days though, but a very promising start.

As it works under 150 Hz, the first thing you notice is a more present and controlled bass, but at the same time, the whole sound picture becomes brighter, in the sense that, the natural sound edges of instruments and voices are more defined, which I find very positive, as it makes complex passages gain greater sense.

What is your view on SAM with the Olympica range?

RE: New speakers SAM ready - Vivialet - 09-Nov-2014

SAM is now available for my Vivid Giya G2. A huge improvement here. I'm setting SAM to 80% and additionally I reduce 2 room modes with the jRiver EQ. My B&W DB1 sub is no real improvement anymore. Which says a lot about SAM...

RE: New speakers SAM ready - seeseerider - 09-Nov-2014

I was under the impression that 'SAM' could not be adjusted. either "on" or "off" but no in between. The Vivid G2 now goes down to 15 hertz !!

RE: New speakers SAM ready - audiowout - 09-Nov-2014

Stupid question maybe but how can I switch between on and off for SAM. Using a D200.

RE: New speakers SAM ready - Vivialet - 09-Nov-2014

you have to configure the 2 buttons of the remote to SAM on/off and Tone Controls. Then you can of course switch SAM on or off and if you select tone controls the last option (after balance, bass, treble) is SAM. There you can adjust the SAM level between 0 and 100%.
