Hi all, thanks for the assistance.  I seem to have got it sorted now by assigning a static IP address, after running a new long cat5 cable straight into the router bypassing the switch.

The app only works when the cat5 cable is connected, not when the the Devialet is operating wirelessly. 

Will see how long it lasts... thanks again for the help. 

Now on to see if I can get AIR/Roon working via the ethernet connection - everything looks to be connected and in place but no sound.  What a joke.
