Why do you say the S/N is very poor? If you can share a link to your .mdat REW file we can I have a look.

Just a guess, but is the noise in the red rectangle anything to do with the signal that tells REW when to start measuring?

Your measurements are actually noisy, even though they can be exploited to a certain extent.
Checklist :
- Have you properly configured the calibration file of the microphone in REW ?
- Have you done the "check levels" test in the preferences of REW, first tab ?
- What does the SPL read in REW during sweeps ? Should not be less than 70dB, preferably 75dB-80dB.
- Are you using Airplay ? Airplay is known to cause issues with REW, even though this is supposed to be fixed in the last version (check you have the last version 5.19 beta 7).
ON the data itself, you have a very strong resonance at 55Hz, and your early reflections in the first 25ms are a bit high, some being above the -15dB threshold "good practice", this is visible in ETC view.

I confirm that was Airplay issue, I've made another measurements through HDMI > Optical > Dialog, the results are much better

Hi all,

I am pleased to annonce some new good things !

As acoustic crosstalk reduction is not always fully known or understood we have created a video explaining the concept & demonstrating what you can achieve as 3D soundstage with proper correction:  https://youtu.be/lfQPnmy2pxI (please us headphones)

We now propose different options for crosstalk reduction as the beta testing phase has been really positive. For the ones seeking tailor made xtalk reduction we support the measurement of individual head related transfer functions.

Last but not least, we propose a simple tool for room transfer measurements (inc. remote control with tablet or phone) Hope this will remove any potential mental roadblock of using a more advanced tool like REW.

Website has been updated accordingly http://www.homeaudiofidelity.com

Best,
Thierry

I previously got the 'Excellence' package from yourself (you only had Standard or Excellence at the time). If I want to get new filters (I'm upgrading my current speakers) what is the costing for new 'Head Model or 'HRTF' Filters (these weren't available when I got my filters)?

Off course would like to get the best filters, but still unsure of the benefits of getting either 'Head Model or 'HRTF'. Are these filters only good if one has a single listening positions, whereas I have a settee and can sit in middle or sides - what do you recommend?

I have a umik-1 and used REW previously to take my measurements. Do you recommend using the same or should I get the In-ear binaural microphones you recommend for the HRTF?

Cheers
John

Hello John,

You can have a look at this page for the pricing policy https://www.homeaudiofidelity.com/english/pricing-contact/
With a more precise crosstalk reduction you get a more realistic soundstage and better tonal presentation especially for acoustic instruments.
As you are not always listening at the centered position I would not recommend the binaural measurements but the head model will certainly be a good step forward.

Cheers,
Thierry

Please tell us more about the tool Smile I couldn’t see anything on your website.
I can use REW but have so little time at home I haven’t even tried to get measurements despite wanting to get your filters. Will it be any quicker with your tool and does it run on a Mac? Thanks.

Ok, so pricing on your website is for someone coming from a lower previous version ('Excellence' to 'Excellence Head').

Similar to Swlon's question, do you recommend I stick with REW for my measurements or swap to using your in-house measurement tools. I also don't understand or can find how they work for the 'Head' filters, only thought your tools were for 'HRTF'.

Think I'm not understanding something (that would be a first, not Tongue ).

Cheers
John
