Creating all digital home cinema - magicvinny - 18-Sep-2017

So I have the idea to create an all digital 5.1 system. I would use a modified Oppo 203 with 4x spdif out as a pre-amp. The amplifiers would be the Devialet D200, to start with.

Could someone chime in and explain how I would need to set up the Devialets?

Just to be clear: 1 spdif out from Oppo to Devialet 1 spdif in = L/R
1 spdif out from Oppo to Devialet 2 spdif in = C/sub
1 spdif out from Oppo to Devialet 3 spdif in = SL/SR

There is volume control in the Oppo blu ray player.

Should I set up each Devialet as a Master without daisy chaining or can I use 1 Master and 2 slaves?

Advice needed please!

Not into HT, but this should work if you set all the amps as masters (no chaining). If you set the spdif input as default and a suitable start-up volume in the config ( I think -40 is default, so at least -20) it should be OK. Adjust start-up volume to what is suitable for the Oppo volume control.

Are you sure volume control on oppo applies to digital output? You should ask to confirm.
It seems only upcoming 203 vanityhd card can do this.
So you will need to control volume through devialet amp.
One remote paired with all amps should be good

Thanks for the replies.

My Oppo will have the new Vanity HD card. It will be available end of October.
Volume control will be no problem with this card as I could read in the user guide.
