[/quote] Depends on scale, I think this would look OK if they are massive, say 2.5 metres tall, or bigger, but look terrible if small. Anyway, the picture here is different to the picture on the link? They can't both be correct? Trying to imagine this.................. ............Nope, still hideous. Devialet's newest technology...? - adhesiv - 04-Dec-2014 Whatever it is there's some interesting design and technology involved. What are those fins for? Looks very high tech! High/mid drivers in the front, bass in the back and the electronics in between? I guess we'll find out in a day or 12. RE: Devialet's newest technology...? - Tony - 04-Dec-2014 Pretty sure the second picture is Cabasse La Sphère ... a speaker from a few years ago so would be surprised if that was anything other than a red herring! RE: Devialet's newest technology...? - IanG-UK - 04-Dec-2014 Highly unlikely, but it could be the commercial realisation of what was rather indiscreetly titled Peter's Balls. It was Peter Walker's electrostatic design which was the successor to the ESL-63 but, at that time, the technology did not exist for it to be brought to market some 20 years ago. Knowing Peter Walker it must have been better than an ELS-63 otherwise he would never have pursued it. The prototypes were big and the drive design, though electrostatic, was never disclosed in "Quad - The Closest Approach" written by Ken Kessler in 2003. There was a suggestion is was a multiple membrane design unlike his two earlier types. RE: Devialet's newest technology...? - darthsteph - 04-Dec-2014 Here is a tweet from Quentin Sannié : "Sonos lève $ 130M : Trop tard, on arrive le 16 décembre !" = "Sonos raises $ 130M : Too late, we're coming on 16th december !" So... Welll spotted! I thought it looked like a Cabasse when I first saw the photo but dismissed the idea. I've just googled it and looked at the photos and I'm sure you're right. I'm in the camp that thinks it looks hideous whatever size it is. This Cabasse is 1.4m tall so not quite as big as Confused might have liked |
