RE: Munich 2018 - IanG-UK - 17-May-2018 Debating whether there is a difference between a Mac and (for example) a dCS shoudn't really be the purpose of this particular thread. The reason it strayed there originated with whether Devialet were sustaining their old line of "a Mac is all you need" or changing it to "use whatever you enjoy", and why! RE: Munich 2018 - zdenes - 17-May-2018 Enough of derailing the thread. Back to Munich. Look who's sitting in the sweet spot RE: Munich 2018 - Celts88 - 17-May-2018 @zdenes The guy in the cheap seats at the back has fallen asleep Should have put some AcaDaca on to wake him up RE: Munich 2018 - Confused - 17-May-2018 (17-May-2018, 16:43)zdenes Wrote: Enough of derailing the thread. A very nice guy from the forum but I can't tag him as I'm not sure he wants to be tagged. This excellent forum is the only useful source of information, and I have learned not to believe any ‘information’ that comes from these ‘meet the customer’ sessions. Really I don’t think their software is that bad. I used their beta version for 3 months, no major issue at all. Software development especially integration with 3rd party software isn’t that easy. I think Devialet did a excellent job! RE: Munich 2018 - Hifi_swlon - 19-May-2018 They didn’t do an excellent job - delivering something late, with serious bugs, and missing promised features, is a very poor job. Software development isn’t hard or easy, it’s just like any other task in that to execute properly and professionally takes planning and management. Devialet make software development look hard because they do it in a haphazard way and apparently underestimate the time and resources needed to do it properly. The reality is they should have been working on the software part of the CI before they announced it. As it stands it appears they started around the time it was due for release. They also have poor beta test menagenent, closed and mostly secret, which is unprofessional. I fully agree with Hifi_swlon here. The "beta" programme for the CI is not what we want, especially not the secrecy and silly NDA. The NDA in this case is only there trying to prevent Devialet from looking even more amateurish. The 250 Pro CI is still a fabulous amp so I am not complaining about sound quality, just the lack of control with software development RE: Munich 2018 - RebelMan - 19-May-2018 Here we go again. If people aren't ranting about the software then it's the hardware and if it isn't about the hardware then it's the software. Since when is software ever stable? It's NEVER stable. The joke (among hardware engineers) is that software is ALWAYS in beta. Devialet "should have been working on the software part of the CI before they announced it." Are you serious? Had they not released the CI when they did the gripe would be Devialet "should have been working on the hardware part of the CI before they announced it." I get it that missed promises and extended delays seem to be routine with Devialet. Well guess what, it's that way with all hi-tech companies to more or less the same degree. My iPhone is looooooooooaded with buggy software and Apple is coooooooooonstantly updating it. But like Apple, Devialet made an AWESOME product, not a perfect one just an awesome one! |
