I Think it is becorse the signal from turntable , is analog , Then analog signal chance too digital ,and there is the ploblem , when chanching the signal is not protrectet ,and Then the hiss come , becorse i Don,t Think the phonostage In devialet is not good , i Think With all the connections it is pretty good , but it is the misk mask ,around chanching analog too digital we find the hiss ploblem.

Hi - I started a very similar thread some time back and while I did use a SUT (a Dynavector unit) initially, I ultimately moved to a P75 through the line input and it's great. I am (like you were/are) disappointed not to be able to use the amp directly but I can readily live with an offboard phono unit.

I have a sut (ortofon verto) Works Wery Well , but i still Think it should not be the Way too use a SUT, it should be possible With Low caridge ,connect too devialet With out hiss, there Are other amp With phono who has no hiss , so i mean devialet has a ploblem With ther phonostage, i sent Them a mail about that.

Actually, this thread has inspired me to experiment with the Phono stage again as I have upgraded to a D250 since I last did this. I spent yesterday morning comparing the Devialet phono stage with my Ray Samuels F-117 Nighthawk phono amplifier. I’ve concluded that with the Nighthawk plugged into the D line level input, the overall sound is noticeably better and also there is the benefit of absolutely no hiss. Now whilst the Nighthawk has a ‘giant killer’ reputation, it remains in my opinion a relatively moderate product in terms of general phono stage quality. I am now inclined to go on the hunt for a top quality phono amp. Shame on Devialet for incorporating a very mediocre phono stage. The rest of the amp demands much better.

I Can follow you Greg but it should not be the case ,connecting a phono amp too devialet , people bye devialet becorse they Can have everything In One box, and now we start agin too put more box too devialet, it is not ok.

I must say I did buy the D-Premier partly because its MC phono stage was completely silent when I demoed it at home and was disappointed when the Pro update with its new board clearly, IMO, was a downgrade for MC phono. Mine still sounds good via the SUT and MM input though. I would have preferred the original phono stage (which I understand was a very expensive part of the D-Premier) but I don't listen to my old LPs enough for it to be a deal breaker!
I missed the HDMI input too for playing the TV through the stereo.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I finally acquired the Ortofon SUT. It did substantially improve the sound of the system and in fact, it sounds pretty amazing. That said, I still think that Devialet can try harder to address this issue. It's clearly been going on for years and my turntable specialist (who is also a sound engineer) believes that it could be addressed through a firmware update.

Here's hoping that Devialet does indeed attempt to live up to their claims regarding the phono stage as being the most advanced on the planet and reduces that noise floor with low output cartridges. They have a near perfect system and they shouldn't allow such an obvious weak link keep them from reaching perfection.

Steve yes good you get ortofon SUT , and find out that it helps much about Hiss , but you have Right , devialet should do something about the phonostage and Low output cartridges.
