Pro1000 digital interconnect - acceptable length - Jim_Anderson - 07-Jan-2019 I am looking at replacing my speaker cables and thought that before I do this (issues with length required for right speaker of >15ft limits what I can afford to purchase), to look at shorter speaker cables by placing amps closer to speakers. Would 15ft cable between the Pro's be acceptable? If I can do this then my options on quality speaker cables increases substantially. Jim RE: Pro1000 digital interconnect - acceptable length - thumb5 - 07-Jan-2019 You might want to take a look at these threads: https://devialetchat.com/Thread-440-Pro-Short-speaker-cables-or-short-digital-link-cable https://devialetchat.com/Thread-Long-Master-Companion-link-cable-or-long-speaker-cables and this (and following) posts: https://devialetchat.com/Thread-DIY-wiring-of-RCA-to-XLR-umbilical-cable?pid=57672#pid57672 TL;DR: a long link cable increases the chances of the link not working properly, especially at higher sample rates. The result probably depends on the specific cable you plan to use. RE: Pro1000 digital interconnect - acceptable length - sam1000 - 07-Jan-2019 I have used the transformer method discussed in the thread above. Worked quite well for me and allowed me to use 4' speaker cables. This is the transformer I used. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=email&A=details&Q=&sku=880882&is=REG |
