TV sound to Expert problem - frenek - 04-Dec-2020

Hi,

I would like to send TV sound (Samsung) to Expert.
I have tried with Line-Output-Input but doesn't work.

Has someone done it with success ?
Or has any info.

Thanks
Juergen

I use optical. You’ll need to change volume on the Expert.

Works, thanks

But  volume has to be raised drastically

I also use optical to get sound from my TV to my D. Have you checked the menus on the TV to see if there are any volume settings that can be tweaked?

Thanks for your advice, no control of volume for optical output at TV possible

But maybe in Expert configurator , optical input shows control for "pass thru"  in a range from -30 to +15 db
now it is at -15 db by default.

You shouldn't use pass-through for optical input. You need volume control.

ok, but no volume control for each single input available
that means I have to increase volume only by using remote, thats not the best solution

Pass-through is basically meant for AVR or preamp integration - where Devialet is used as power amp.

Of course, you can use it for whatever you need, but be careful with volume level on the input.

ok, I understand

But is there an option to increase volume where needed on different inputs ?

No. You can set the default start up volume but that will also increase the default volume on other inputs. It's normally set at -40dB.

The good thing is that when you switch to another input, the volume goes back to the default volume so you can turn it up when using the TV and when you switch to another input it won't blow your brains out.

Is there a specific issue you're worried about apart from RSI from turning the volume knob an extra quarter of a turn?
