More incoming!

This is going to be an exciting month.

RE: My Phantom voyage - ragwo - 15-Oct-2021

It's Friday!
I'm celebrating with opening cardboard boxes.

Next box even has graphics on it!

Then I was way too inpatient to take pictures of boxes, instead I mounted the content on the wall.

The matte trinity is finally complete!

Must be a real treat to be watching and listening to a movie with such an HC system.

However, I'm also eager to learn if replacing the sealing join on the dummy phantom did the trick or not....

@Jean-Marie
Thanks! Watching movies is quite fun. I'm really curious about the sealing project myself. I've just received the rubber sealings and hopefully I'll find some time this weekend to seal off the Frankenphantom.

I've ordered 2 and 3 mm rubber sealing and 3 mm rubber foam sealing. Hopefully one of them will work.

Getting closer!

Like watching paint dry; really exciting!

RE: My Phantom voyage - ragwo - 16-Oct-2021

Now you actually have the chance to watch paint dry! If you have a really boring Friday night you could tune in to this livestream of boredom watching the paint on cable concealer dry. Be aware, it's a slow drying paint.

RE: My Phantom voyage - ragwo - 16-Oct-2021

I've been thinking, that's often not a good thing, just ask my wife. But hear me out, my theory is as follows:
The amplifier in the dummy speaker is needed for the demo mode hidden in the old Spark app. You enable it the same way as you enable the optical direct mode. The only drawback is that the amplifier and woofers needs more cooling to cope with the stress caused by the woofers flapping to the maximum constantly, hence the missing rubber sealings. You'll hear noise from air being sucked into the speaker and pushed out again, but the cooling would be sufficient. Another way to fix the ventilation need for the demo mode is to drill large holes behind the side panels. Wind noise wouldn't be a problem, but converting the speaker back to normal would be a bit too easy, and suddenly there would be lots of working Frankenphantoms around. Disassembling the speaker to fit the missing gaskets makes the process way more painful, hence the trade off with wind noise. Does it sound plausible?

Dear Devialet. Please let us have the option to turn off the light in the power button.

Yes I know I can use tape etc. but that's kind of a bodge job.

It's getting closer!

Keep watching, the paint hasn't dried yet.
