New Apple Music Hi-Res - Descartes - 23-Jul-2021 I am wondering whether and how it’s possible to stream the new Hi-Res 24 bit/192 kHz format of Apple Music content to my Devialet Expert Pro system (210 dual mono). According to Apple there is no easy-going wireless option but it should work via some old-fashioned USB cable connection (iPhone/iPad usb-c output => Devialet DAC usb-b input). Has anybody tried this successfully? What‘s the quality compared to Roon RAAT and Qobuz or Tidal Hi-Fi? RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - simplicate - 27-Jul-2021 Related question. I have a D-Premier - not upgraded. Can AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital input be used with a converter to do Apples new hire audio from say ethernet? RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - Nightmare - 11-Nov-2021 No one?? I am also interested in this topic. RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - markush - 12-Nov-2021 Qobuz provides the best quality - just try via Roon and you will be amazed. RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - Nightmare - 12-Nov-2021 But the theme here is Apple ;-) RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - BoyScout - 12-Nov-2021 (12-Nov-2021, 10:37)Nightmare Wrote: But the theme here is Apple ;-)Between the three perhaps the best is Tidal in terms of sound quality. RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - Damon - 12-Nov-2021 Except for Spotify, any streaming source needs an external streamer- assuming you are eliminating Bluetooth from a phone or tablet. Spend a little or a lot. Personally, I think the latest generation of Bluesound streamers is very good. Anything with a digital output will be handled by the internal DAC, and that is 9/10ths of the battle. You just need to find a streamer that gets Apple Music, various streamer brands and models are set up for various, but not all, streaming services. EDIT/ Adddum; I'm not sure what numbers Apple Music does as Hi Res, or what the Bluesound products support, so my suggestion my be irrelevant. I'm only concerned about CD quality sources. EDIT 2: Do the recent Darko UTube videos help at all? Second one was 31 Oct this year. He does talk about getting Apple Music into a Bluesound Node 2i via Airplay but I don't recall if he explicitly covered the hi-res part. Sorry. I'll stop now. RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - Nightmare - 13-Nov-2021 You are talking about the Bluesound Node N130? RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - nduchatel - 14-Nov-2021 According to Devialet website, Devialet AIR accept 24bits / 192kHz, so you can easily stream from a Mac using Aìr Driver RE: New Apple Music Hi-Res - Confused - 14-Nov-2021 The question in the OP was asking about using an iPhone or iPad to stream 24/192 to a Devialet, with a later post asking if this could be done via a DCC. (USB to S/PDIF) I suspect this is entirely possible, using one of these: https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD821ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter I say suspect, because until someone actually tries this it is difficult to be 100% sure it will work. 24/192 apart, it might offer an interesting way to use an old iPhone or iPod, even if only as a nice web browser with touch screen for internet radio or something. Has anyone got a Lightening USB camera adaptor to see if this works? Has anyone actually tried this? |
