PC sound card - frogster99 - 25-Jan-2022

Hi, can anyone recommend a sound card for my pc so i can connect via spdif to my phantoms with 24/192 output.
Thanks

Pink Faun has one like that (PCIe), but you'll need Toslink optical SPDIF for Phantoms and I don't think Pink Faun has an option for that. Another option is a Mutec MC-3 +USB. Connect USB to your PC and send a reclocked stream from Toslink to Phantoms. Mutec specs it's Toslink to 24/192. Normally Toslink maxes out at 96kHz.

There are quite a few cheap cards out there. Seems geared towards gaming with multi channel and have DA converters.

Thank you, i will have a look, someone on another forum suggested this as a lower budget connection. https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/audioquest-dragonfly-cobalt

Here's a cheap USB DAC with optical output.

Will be testing it in a week or two.

I don't think any of the Dragonflies have optical output so will only work with Phantom II, not Phantom I.
The one @ragwo  points to has SPDIF out in a combo 3.5mm/optical jack and is specified to 96kHz.

Super clean clear sound upto 24/96 anything over that and you get distortion not sure if it's the phantoms that just can't handle it?
