220 Pro Ci vs 250 expert - Marietto - 26-Jan-2022

Hello, is it better to change from 220 Pro Ci to 250 Expert or is it necessary to upgrade the 250 Expert?

cost of upgrading from 250 expert to 250 Pro I think it costs a lot ..

I think the 220 Pro CI might sound better than a Expert 250, however a 250 Pro CI does sound really good. The upgrade is, as you say, quite pricey though...

Never owned a 250 but I probably liked the sound of my D-Premier better than my 220 and the 250 should sound better than a D-p. But the 220/250 pro is more modern and practical.

I wrote to Devialet two days ago to find out the upgrade costs of the 250, but they haven't answered yet.
Update prices were posted on the site last year.

It's  £ 3590 in the UK so I think somewhere around. € 4000

As a reply to your original question I've heard both expert 250 and still own 220 pro I would not say 220 is better...but just different and if remember correctly some parts of the expert 250 sound were better to me.

Remember that the 220 Expert Pro is Roon Ready whereas the non-CI 250 Expert is not Roon Ready. For me, that is big. I don't doubt that the 250 Expert Pro CI sounds much better than the 220. Not sure how the 250 Expert would stack up to the 220 Expert Pro but I can say that the 220 Expert Pro was a significant improvement over the 200 Expert to my ears.

I've been in fortunate position to test and compare both my then expert 200 with an expert 250 direct in my room with the same rest of the equipment and to me there was a huge difference in sound quality between them ,I thought 200 was not in the same league.
Not sure about the pro range though...

It was like that for me too, the difference between 200 and 220 was really noticeable.
Of course, € 4k is not a small amount to upgrade the 250
last year I paid € 2,390 to upgrade the 200 to 220

And in any case Devialet has not yet answered me ...
