Trigger cable for sources in companion mode? - mrxad81 - 23-Jan-2025

Hi,
why do I need the trigger cable connected between my two 220 pros to use input sources via the companion?
Both units are connected via Coax cable.
As soon as I activate a source on the companion via the configurator the trigger cable between the two machines comesĀ
up.

This is for data communication, the link is not bi-directional, it always goes one way. If you use a Companion source, sound will travel from companion to master, the trigger cable will send source change/volume change etc. as commands from the Master to the Companion.

Thank you.

Is there a way to use this scenario and also another trigger input from my AVR (as I use the trigger input actually)?

Do you think a splitter for the trigger could work.
On the first input is my trigger cable from the AVR which will only send signal when the expert is off.
On the second input is the trigger connection to the companion which is only needed when the input source is cd.

I assume you want the Devialet to turn on when the AVR sends the signal. If that is the case, you need to use the trigger in of the master unit, which is above the trigger out port that connects the master unit to the companion unit. If you need the AVR to turn on with the Devialet command, then yes, maybe a split cable could work, but I am not 100% sure about this as the Devialet Master and Companion use a special protocol developed for the Expert Pro. Maybe there is someone else with a better understanding of this scenario.

I need the trigger just as signal from my avr. when the avr starts, the Devialet should also power on.

In the configurator is just one possibility to activate a trigger input. that's direct under the optical input and the same is used for the link to the companion.
In the configurator I have no other choice to active the optical input as the trigger.
