Has anyone done a ranking of the best firmwares by sound?
Is there any audible difference between the different firmwares?

The real problem is that the majority of firmware releases for the Expert Pro series were focused on bug fixes, as Devialet was never able to stabilize the software—from 2017 (when I bought my first unit) up to the latest version. As a result, you might try testing older firmware versions, but you'll likely encounter more bugs than with the latest release. I assume this is why Devialet now only provides a single firmware version on their website.
Older firmware versions are still available for download on the forums, but again, this company has never managed to deliver a truly stable version for any of their products. I wouldn’t bother spending time on it. Considering the number of hardware and software compromises made with the Astra release, it also suggests—at least in my opinion—that they’re not very confident in handling the software’s complexity.
