Put Master on top of Companion? - cescrig - 21-Oct-2025

I guess you can tell from the question I'm new to this...
For space reasons, I need to place the Master on top of the Companion on my Expert 440 Pro. I've read that Devialet recommends placing one side by side, although the photos always show one on top of the other.
I've thought about placing some 35 mm heat-resistant silicone plugs between them to increase the distance and improve air circulation. I've also thought about installing a mini fan (8-10 cm in diameter) to blow air between the two units at a low speed to avoid any noise.
What do you say, my dear colleagues? Thanks.
Carlos (Spain)

I have IsoAcoustic pucks between my Master and Companion with Master on the top. Works fine.

Preferably put it side by side sounds the best, because Devialet being so 'light' is sensitive and what the Devialet is on top of matters to the sound. If you put it one on top of the other, the two Devialets are not on same base. Also, Devialet becomes hot when you leave it on longer and if you are not living in a colder region on earth, the top Devialet is going to be a lot hotter than the bottom one because the heat from the bottom Devialet is going to heat up the top one.

Anyway, if you are not really picky on sound quality, then that will still work. If you are a real audiophile, then place it side by side.

Or hang them on the wall.

And put a small silent fan blowing air between the units?

I had a 250 hanging right next to a PC. Never saw temperatures higher then 48 degrees on the powersupply. This was in a 27 degrees room.

I'd suggest not stacking if you can avoid, but if you have space constraints (been there, did that), I'd suggest putting something between them to ensure sufficient airflow. The Isoaccoustics mentioned early is what I've used with great success.

Mine are stacked.
I have put two small axial fans behind them to blow the warm air out of the sideboard.
Works perfect. No noise. Never more than 40 degrees outside temperature (power supply 48).

I followed Ron's example and installed a low-noise Noctua fan. I've also set it to low speed, and it's inaudible even if you put your ear right up to it.
I separated the Master from the Companion slightly with 35mm rubber plugs resting on a cloth (like the kind used for cleaning glasses), and with the fan running, the temperature is similar to what Ron described.

And it looks fantastic.
