[Vintage] Thorens TD 160 Super
#1
Hi all,

Just a quick note to share my (vintage) experience, connecting the 30-year old Thorens TD 160 Super (SME 3009, Denon DL103) from my father to my one-year old Devialet Ensemble (D120+Athom GT1): it just rocks!

I just got the TD160 refurbished by a specialist in Paris who happens to have the very same model at his place, changing the driving belt and the cartridge (my father bought it in the 80's).

I'm using the Web configurator's setting for the Denon MC cartridge and the sound quality is quite amazing compared to 16/44 digital.

The only downside is that a MC cartridge requires turning off the WiFi AIR interface on the D120, unless you want the WiFi drumming every 10 seconds :/

Now, I need to upgrade my vinyl collection. With just three so far (Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, Herbie Hancock's Taking Off and Joe Henderson's Page One), my wife is getting mad listening to the same thing every evening Wink

Best regards,

Arnaud

PS: Meanwhile, the RoonServer/Roon setup remains a showcase for digital goodness.
