1000 Pro 1.6 times heavier than the 440 Pro!

Anyone notice that the 1000 Pro's are much heavier (9.7 + 9.5 kg ~ 42 pounds combined) compared to the 440 Pros (5.9 kg x 2 ~ 26 pounds).
That's a lot of extra stuff, 16 pounds more bling packed into the same space. Denser material, circuitry, or something else?

Given this added weight, the heat dissipation figures posted recently about the 1000 Pro start to make sense. It's packed much
more densely, and should/will run warmer, all else being equal....

Probably mostly due to the different casework, I'd expect.

Indeed!  I did pick one up a 1000 Pro the demo yesterday.  I wasn't trying to steal it, Alasdair at Oxford Audio suggested this because he was surprised how heavy it was.  It was a LOT heavier than the old 250, surprisingly so.  If you look at the 'only for audiophiles' section on Devialet's website, the 1000 Pro is listed as having a 'bottom plate 100% pure copper for a better thermal dissipation', the 220/440 does not have this.  I believe the electronics are similar or identical.  I'm wondering if the old 250 bottom plate was aluminium?  Hence the weight difference.

EDIT:  Yes, as Ian mentions above, the old D-Premier, 250/800 and the new 1000 Pro have an upper case machined from solid aluminium, which is more substantial than the 200/220/440 Pro
