Phantom disconnects from the network
#1
Hi folks

I really need your help..

I'm currently unable to enjoy my phantom due to frequent disconnection from network.

Internet source like a Tidal, Qobuz and radio will not play for more than 10 minutes....and will stop and I will have to unplug and plug back dialog...for another 10 minutes cycle...

Two phantoms and dialog are wired to the main switch (netgear prosafe) in the living room downstairs a single phantom in the dining room wired to another switch... and two other are wired to another switch upstairs.

Internet in my house is via a point to point link... my virgin media 150 Mbs router is located 1 km away.... but the link work fine as I have got 144 Mbs in my house and my other devices work fine.

The wifi at home is via two ubiquity UAP AC pro which are also connected to the switches. Wifi work flawless...

So people out there help me... don't know if the problem is down to the point to point link... which I doubt as the link is purely to allow internet access...

I there anything anyone could suggest to help me?

Spoken to Devialet and they are powerless... they exchanged one of phantoms and my dialog...but problems remain...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

Thx
 Angenet.

Hi,

If i understand correctly, you have only issues with streaming services (Tidal, Qobuz).
But you can enjoy listening to the music over your local network where MP3, FLAC files are locally stored ?
Make sure Upnp is enabled and that you can ping every local network resources.
Make sure nothing goes in sleep mode after 10 min...
I look forward you to udpade this thread.

Have you tried to use a Chromecast Audio connected to a toslink input?

Hello Daibaron

Thanks a lot for your response

The issue is mainly recurrent when tried to play online sources...

The TV connected to the phantoms via Optical Toslink will play for  longer period...

I have got one of the Raspeberry Pi and Hifi digi+ board connected to the phantom in the dining room... the Pi can stream HI-Res from my NAS  directly to one phantom... But the interruption occurs when I streamed from my NAS to the phantom and more often when I tried Group play of several phantoms.

I'm certain UPNP is activated, but will double check tonight after work.

Thx

Which Netgear Prosafe switch is it exactly? Are you sure that there is no loop in your network design?

I would disconnect everything but Phantoms, Dialog, Internet connection and a PC / Laptop from the main switch. Then I would try listening online music just with this basic configuration.

Hi Again,

Lets forget solutions around Bluetooth... for now.

the RPi has a network adapter limitation of 100mb (not gigabit) which is enough to play most of high bit rate audio/videos files
I guess your Hifi digi+ must be connected over Tos-link which is a direct connection to 1 phantom and as far i understand the RPi has no network problem...
Try to play some audio files that are stored on your computer and see what is happening this way we can be sure it's a network issue.
I would also try to reduce the number of connected Phantom to the Dialog and see what is happening with only 1 phantom connected.
Have you issues with other phantoms that are not connected thru the Dialog.
Try to play files from another network location this way will see if the problem comes from your NAS.

Spark 1.6.3.10 is now released out, try it to check if it makes the difference

Good luck

Hello again

Thanks a lot for all your help and advices..  Just a quick update...

I have done some extensive tests yesterday..

Streaming from local device work fine with no interruption at all..
Bluetooth play work flawless for hours with no interruption...

Only online streaming is not working at all.. Online radio, Tidal, Qobuz working on a cycle of 10 min play, stop for 4 minutes and then start the play  and  the cycle continues...

So clearly something in my network is preventing the Phantoms to access the internet..
Don't know if the problem is because the phantoms, dialog are all wired  and that the Phantoms is trying to use the WIFI ...just guessing..

Or maybe, the problem is the Point to point link .. currently outputting 130Mbs in my house..

I have also reduced the number of switches in my network ... down from five to only three.

Thx in advance for any suggestion.
