1000 Pro Review

I agree the 200 in general,  but 5000 EUR isn't a good deal on a used 200.  In Canada I'd be very lucky to get 2800 EUR now that the Pro's and the upgrade pricing has been announced.  Basically the price of a used 120 is all they are worth now.  Sad

You almost have to spend money on a 220 Pro upgrade to make it sellable and worth something again.

It doesn't matter what it's worth if you intend to keep it though. For me it's the best 6k I have ever spent on Hi-Fi gear ....

I thought it is interesting that JF felt he had to spend $100,000.00 USD to equal the D120.... or finally better it. So I can sleep well, too!

It makes sense to me that the real capability of the 1000 Pro comes through with the best source material, and similarly, with more spacious and dynamic music than with most rock music. And I suspect that his system is very revealing of the small details in sound quality and characteristics. It may be that less capable systems may not show the differences as easily as his does.

I think also that he notes the Devialet 'house sound' is present in both amps, with the D1000Pro simply giving more of the subtleties and dynamics in the recording. There is not a perfect amp that will do everything for every listener, but if the Pro series competes with the very expensive Boulder and Soulution amps, then that is good company indeed. And it fits easily into the overhead storage compartment in most airplanes.

5000 EUR nor for used but for a new ,,ex-demo" from SHOP with full 5 year guarantee.

I don't know how is it in Canada but in Europe I haven't seen any real offer for used 200 with price less than 3600 EURO.

I just checked eBay UK and there are currently 7 for sale with Buy It Now prices ranging between about £3,500 and £4,500 (€3,900-€5,000). Actual 'sold' prices may well be a bit lower.

I'm a bit puzzled on used/new pricing... I have seen 200s for sale here in the US that claim they are eligible for the "recent buyer" upgrade discount and selling for ~$4500.   When you add the $2990 upgrade price, it means you can get essentially a new 220 Pro with full 5 year warranty for 32% off the price of a new 220 Pro.   Seems like a pretty slick path to a 220 Pro.

The average price of a used, Privately sold D200 in Europe still lies around 4000 Euro. In fact my dealer offered me that amount if I traded my D200 when buying a D800/D1000. There are some offers around with lower prices, but personally I don't really trust those. These are either from unchecked sellers or from sellers that will not send outside their country with no selling history. Or I am just too cautious and there are actually some really good bargens to be made at the moment. Dealer prices have dropped slightly to an average of about €4.750 I guess for ex-demo with 5 years full warranty. I had expected the prices to drop more, but they didn't.

As Moreno says. D200 (and D400) are still a very good proposition. So good in fact I chose to upgrade to D400 instead of upgrading to D220 Pro after hearing them side by side.

Not as slick as an ex-dem or used 120 sold by a dealer - with discounted upgrade to 220 (if you can find them)

The main reason for the 200s going so cheap and probably why some 200 owners are bailing.

The prices in the U.K. seem a bit different. I can see on eBay a few D200s have sold recently for £3395-3495. Upgrade price is £2995 so worst case that's about £6500 for a Used D200 to upgrade to a D220Pro. New D220pros are £6990 on a couple of UK sites so not a huge amount more, and possibly a discount might be negotiated on that?
