Not if I can find a D250. You know that feeling you get when you are descending on a jet and you get that pressure build up in your ears? That's the sensation I get when I listen to the Pro. I have had a few friends come over and they all exspressed that the D250 had the magic at lest through the Gallos. It was holographic in the way the musicians could be in the room but through the Pro it's just ho hum recorded sound. For some it might sound good but not to me.

I know exactly what you mean. Almost as if your eardrums are being sucked towards the edges of the expanded soundstage. The last time I experienced this was when I first plugged in my long gone AE1 Mk3 SE, which I regret selling. One of the big-wigs from Spectral Audio in the USA bought them and told me that they were the best speakers he's ever heard. I kid you not.

Hope you manage to get your "downgrade"!

Alex.
It's not a downgrade, it just a different amp. When I went for the Pro I thought I was getting a more refined D250, instead it was a completely different direction they took, a completely different amp. To my ears there is nothing similar. It's still a fine amp, it just not what I was hoping for.
Devialet 250 Pro, Marantz SA-11 S2, Dell 2T HDD/250 SSD/24GB Mem.,using Fidelizer Pro software with JRivers. Hyperion 968 speakers. Cabling consists of Nordost Heimdall 2 power cables to all components with Nordost Qx4 inline to Devialet, all other wiring are Nordost Valhalla. I am tri-wiring the Hyperion 968s.

Yes, that's why I put downgrade in inverted commas. Smile You're right they are completely different amps physically. As you know everything is stripped out and replaced, so no original parts are used. I class my upgrade as a step up in SQ, but the 250 Pro must be a different beast and I understand that it's not going to be to everybody's taste. I haven't heard of any 440 Pro owners regretting their upgrades, but I guess there will be some.
